As a veritable poet at heart, the physicist turned music and film producer creates raw emotion through his melodies and lyrics inspired by his endless exploration of the world around him. The birth of his son marks his newest source of inspiration as he embarks upon the adventure of parenthood.
The 6-track EP is a heartfelt and dreamy experience that features four original tracks with synth-pop, post-disco and progressive electronica elements, and two remixes for 'Oettam is Born' from Arnaud Rebotini and Íñigo Vontier.
The bouncy electronica title track opens the EP with groovy drums, warm synth pads and a plucked bass line, while washed-out synth leads and airy effects give a cosmic ambience and a nostalgic feel. 'Flashback' is a dark and propulsive tune with rapid arpeggiated synth sequences layered with plucked bass and guitar. The energy increases with the dramatic guitars, noisy, industrial leads and driving drums on 'So Sprach Psychedelia' that reach an epic cinematic climax. The final track, 'Oettam is Born', is a softer, melodic piece with warm pads and chords, uplifting melodies and dewy leads. It is a celebration of Pyrame's profound experience as his son was born that inspires feelings of hope and joy.
The first remix of 'Oettam is Born' comes from the legendary French artist Arnaud Rebotini, who strips the track of its plucked arpeggiators and bass lines and replaces them with chord pads and synth bass. Arnaud is one of the most emblematic figures in electronic music today having remixed songs for the likes of Depeche Mode, Rammstein, The Rapture, and Bloc Party. He was a member of the iconic electroclash band Black Strobe formed in Paris in 1997 and is a synth master known for his breathtaking live performances surrounded by his synthesisers. His ability to straddle genres and bring them together has allowed him to develop an avant-garde yet timeless sound, earning him the position of a central figure in the new international techno scene.
The second remix comes from Iñigo Vontier, an acclaimed contemporary DJ and Producer from Guadalajara, México, known for his mix of rough beats and cosmic sounds. Iñigo has been climbing in the international scene in recent years with support from artists like Solomun, Dixon, Chloe, Tiga, Maceo Plex, and Ame. He started his own label, Calypso Records, in 2017 with Thomass Jackson to promote other Latin American artists and earn them greater visibility. His remix of 'Oettam is Born' is a groovy cut with reverb-heavy hats, bouncy synths and layered children's voice effects that give a joyful and playful touch.
Pyrame will release his EP on October 7th via his label, Thisbe Recordings, inspired by Greek Mythology for a touch of surrealism, heritage and fantasy.
