Dig deep inside Liliane Chlela’s music and you’ll find relentless, dark electronic beats mingled with anger and anguish. For this live interpretation of Safala, the artist taped into her personal heritage and birth a sonic concoction anchored in the inherited oral epistemologies of her ancestors, layered on a backdrop of haunting film sequences and graphics compiled by Beiruth’s Kawakeb studio.

The Mugzy & Maam Show is a hybrid theatrical extravaganza featuring the titular alien puppets made to look like they’re triggering the various drum machines and synths. Mugzy and Maam dominate the visual aspect of the show through impressive puppetry skills, theatrical skits and projections, all while setting the dancefloor on fire!

For his MUTEK debut, Nahash drew inspiration from Flowers of the Revolution, his Tides and Stockpiling EPs, as well as unpublished and exclusive material. Some heavy drums and airy synths created a makeshift jungle sound built from recycled drum loops and second-hand trance samplers.

For her MUTEK debut, Louvoyons delivered a uniqquely playful performance filled with sprinkles of melancholic yet rhythmic synth movements, recorded and reworked synth and piano samples as well as familiar voices and deconstructed speeches that connected the listener to something more concrete; an encompassing performance, simultaneously joyful and introspective.

To celebrate his MUTEK debut, Vanyfox rocked the esplanade Tranquille stage with tracks from his latest EP Banzelo, produced and recorded between Portugal and France. His Batida-infused musical selection also featured unreleased tracks explicitly produced for the occasion.

Inspired by her recent research work on rivers and the poetry of water, these songs explore the emotional landscapes of grief and the transport and change that accompany it. With the musicality of Raf Wilcot, who plays with EEJUNGMI, A Shifting Mirror is a journey through grief towards cathartic reprieve.
