21 May 2017 – John Reid examines Isaiah 6 to consider what it means for God to be holy.

God reveals himself to us making us aware of our sins. Those who hear his voice confess their sins and repent are saved. God’s holiness is so great that we cannot be in his presence of our sins which is why he sent his son to die on the cross enabling us to be in his presence.

30 April 2017 – John Reid examines the 1st Chapter of Isaiah – where Israel is warned that despite going through the motions of their religious traditions their hearts are empty and that God sees through their facade and is offended by their hollow worship.  Isaiah encourages the people of Israel to recognise how they have strayed, to turn away from their evil ways and become truly obedient to God’s commands.

Peace: Jesus’ peace gives us peace between Him and us, between us and God, between us and others in Christ, between us and our souls (our conscience), and in God’s time peace with the world.

Power: We receive ability and power through the Holy Spirit

Purpose: Our purpose, as Jesus commanded his disciples, is to spread the Good News to save souls

16 April 2017 – John Reid delivers the Easter message: From grief to Glory

The resurrection is a historical fact, because of this we Christians believe we have  been forgiven our sins and we have a righteous relationship with God through his Son.

The cross is the place where Jesus removed the barrier between us and God. There is nothing we can do ourselves to remove the barrier…Jesus has done this for you and me, for all who believe, repent and turn to God.

5 principles to guide us;

a. Control our tongue (cooperate with God’s Spirit in us…do not gossip, slander or criticise)

b. Seek godly advisors (people who will challenge us to behave in ways that honour God)

c. Keep doing what is right

d. Recognise our limits (do everything you can, even if this does not resolve the conflict be confident that you have done everything you could have in Christ)

e. Use the ultimate weapon: read Romans 12:20-21

26 March 2017 John Reid – Go and be Reconciled

We cannot forgive those who harm us on our own, true forgiveness can only be achieved with God’s help through His spirit working in us.

Forgiveness IS an act of will to NOT; dwell on the incident, bring it up again to use against the person, talk to others about it, and let the incident hinder personal relationship with the person.
