Focus of the lesson is God’s Word as recorded in Psalm 19:7-11, and also in the words of Jesus as recorded in Matthew 4:4…  “It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”

Have confidence that that the Law of God brings;

a) true Life (note that we die spiritually when we ignore the Word or don’t spend time with the Word, through reading the Bible)

b) Wisdom, and

c) Joy (for this world and the world to come)

Jesus is God who held out his hand to save us by enabling through Jesus a relationship with our Creator.

Keeping Christ in Christmas, not only at Christmas time, but the whole year round…Jesus Christ is a permanent gift!

The real reason for Christmas…..what Christmas is really about.

11 December 2016 – Blair Courtney-O’Connor presents the last in our sermon series on the Gospel of Luke.  He examines Jesus’s parable of the good soil and challenges us to assess the whole of our lives to see which of the 4 soils we have been.  Has the word of God taken root in our lives and has it grown up to produce fruit or has the weeds of modern material society crept in and choked us?

4 December 2016 – John Reid speaks to us about being God’s friend. Can you gain God’s friendship just by osmosis i.e. just hanging around those who love God without knowing Him yourself? (The answer is “No”).

We become God’s true friends by faith alone and that faith allows us to truly know Him and be saved by his grace.

27 November 2016 – Blair Courtney-O’Connor preaches on Luke 6:43-49.

What foundation have you built your life on?  Will it withstand the storm of God’s judgment or will it crumble when tested?  Jesus teaches us that what is in our hearts will flow up and through our actions effect the quality of the fruit we produce.  The bottom line is, we can’t produce truly good fruit unless our hearts are changed by putting our trust in Jesus and giving our life to serve him.

Christ commands us to love our enemies…obedience to this command demonstrates God’s nature

Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you!

Do not do good expecting to be treated well

Act in light of our future hope and relationship with God

The ultimate basis for our behaviour is the nature and deed of God!

13 November 2016 – John Reid speaks to us today about leadership and life expectations. We see how Jesus turns our expectations on their head by saying that those who are poor, hungry, weeping and persecuted will be blessed; and those who are rich, full, laughing and honoured are as close to Heaven as they will get. Which Kingdom do you belong to – The Kingdom of God or The Kingdom of the World?

6 November 2016 – Our guest preacher Paul from Anglicare looks at how far Jesus came to us and indeed how far he went all in the name of love. He became flesh to live among us, to show us love and how to love each other, and he humbled himself to death on the cross to save us even though we were not worthy.

How far will you go to follow Jesus’ example and truly love others?
