So, God set the plan in motion and Peter is convinced. God gave them the Holy Spirit just like Pentecost. Peter says, "Who am I to resist God?"

While Peter is preaching the Holy Spirit descends. This is confirmation that a gentile can be converted. This is a second Pentecost. They spoke in tongues just like the first one. It’s being repeated as they receive the holy spirit just like the Jews.

The story of Peter and Cornelius also reminds us that God wants us to share the love of Jesus with others, no matter who they are.

Paul was brought low (blinded)…that’s often the road to heaven. The road to Christ requires looking out to Christ.

God decided to convert Saul. Here was a man breathing threats and murder against Christians. Saul was fueled by the murder of Stephen preaching the gospel.
It seemed like there would be nobody less likely to be converted. Yet, here is where God is at work.

Both Simon and the Ethiopian both heard the same message from the same preacher. They were both baptized. One was lost and one was saved.

The Gospel message seems to have done little for Simon. I would definitely say he was unconverted even though he had been baptized. The fact that you have been baptized tells me nothing about your Christian life.

Sometimes when Christ is preached it cuts through the heart of the listener....right into their very soul. They had a chance repent but it obviously had the opposite effect. They despised Stephen and the message. It turns into a mob.

The Synagogue brings charges against Stephen. He preaches Christ and they don’t like it. He say’s Christianity about the heart and not about rules. It leads to trouble.
