My Big Fat Pull List Podcast

Comic book annuals have been around for a long time, but the attention they receive, especially today, are a mixed bag, compared to their ongoing titles. Too many fans fear that the next Annual they pick up is just going to be a filler story. The sometimes multiple tales appearing inside an annual SHOULD deliver world building, SHOULD deliver character development, or at the very least, SHOULD deliver action packed entertainment!

At the heart of the Annual debate is still the worry “Do these stories matter?” During OUR Giant-Size Annual, we’ll be asking YOU the same questions as we fill this episode to the brim with a collection of short segments here on My Big Fat Pull List!

With comic books being more mainstream than ever, it’s no surprise that comic conventions, or Comic Cons, are extremely popular. But with the growing crowds of younger, inexperienced fans, it seems that the etiquette of con goers has declined. As well as the vendors themselves.

During this episode of My Big Fat Pull List, the crew share stories of nightmare con moments, give advice to venders on how to sell their books more efficiently and warn inexperienced comic collectors to mind their manners when hunting through long or short boxes. It's the Pros & Cons of Comic Cons!

One of the great things about comic books is that there are no restrictions when it comes to continuing a story from another medium. Take the Star Wars Universe BEFORE Disney bought the rights. Not only were there dozens of novels that continued the adventures of Han, Luke and Leia, but comic books as well. Thanks mostly to Dark Horse Comics.

Strap in for a trip into lightspeed as our trio of geeky hosts travel to the world of the Star Wars Expanded Universe to look at Those Other Star Wars Comics during this episode of My Big Fat Pull List!

When it comes to super villains in comic books, the norm for the longest time was make them colorful looking so they pop of the page and don’t give them too complicated of a backstory. Simple and eye catching.

All that started to change in the early 1980’s. The writing in comic books became more sophisticated, more adult. Sure, the villains were still colorful, but their methods and reasoning became more grim. And with film adaptations going from campy to gritty, the villains became the whole reason to go to the movie theater.

Listen in on the Original Geeks as they come up with backstories and performers to bring to life more realistic versions of some of Batman’s “greatest” foes. It’s time to Revamp A Bat-Villain on My Big Fat Pull List!

At one point in time, the only way to enjoy your comic books was to sit down, hold them in your hands and turn the pages. If you wanted to read a specific storyline, you had to dig through your collection and pull out all the related issues. That’s how it was done.

Then the age of Trade Paperbacks and Digital Comics arrived…

No longer did you have to hunt through your collection for a story. No longer did you have to bag and board your newest comic acquisitions.

It’s been said that the world of printed comics is dying. Your hosts have something to say about that during this episode revolving around The Ever Changing World Of Comics!

Comic books have given readers amazing characters and fantastic storylines. As time goes by and the decades pass, those characters and stories get retold, reimagined and sometimes retconned completely. It’s times like these that fan boys and girls across the land need a few tough as nails private eyes to gather the facts and deliver the 4-1-1 without any B.S.
