Ken James has been part of the Australian entertainment landscape for decades. Starting with a meat pie, Ken became a household name when he won the role as Mark Hammond, the eldest son in the 1969 TV series Skippy.

Following the success of the bush kangaroo, Ken expanded his CV, playing an actor playing a cop in a make-believe police drama show, which itself was on a make-believe Channel 12, known as The Box by Crawford Productions. Over the years, his TV show credits piled-on, and he stepped into filmmaking and theatre performing.

At home, his other passion is food. Don’t call him a TV chef though - sure he may have shared the TV screen with Bert Newton and frying up the latest delicacy, but he just loves to cook a cuisine for his family and friends. Ken also is a firm supporter of the thin blue line, where for two decades, he was an unsworn police officer with the Victorian Police.

These are different personas of comedian Steve Abbott, who has been making you laugh on stage, screen, TV and radio for around 40 years.

Some signature works in his CV are The Castanet Club, Good News Week, ABC’s Birdbrain Podcast, In Siberia Tonight, Triple J, and popping up in the 1988 film Young Einstein.

But there’s more than just being The Sandman. I spoke to Steve to find out more about his career.

You would’ve heard the dulcet tones of Max Rowley’s voice at least in one stage of your life. Whether it was on TV in the Soap Drama Sons and Daughters, The mini-series The Dismissal, or announcer on your local radio station, Max Rowley has been a prominent fixture in the Australian entertainment industry since the 1960s, including running his own radio school.

I believe the most iconic place I recognise him from is the voice over announcer for the 1980s game show It’s A Knockout – a show hosted by Billy J Smith and Fiona MacDonald, and featured constants battling it out with obstacles and games in order to score points and win money.

I spoke to Max Rowley to talk about his history and his thoughts on being part of an iconic series.

A Resume that expands for decades, Gavin Wood is a man of many entertaining trades.

Since the 1970s, he's been in your eyes and ears either on the radio, television, or on the silver screen.  While beginning as a radio announcer, Wood became a national household name as the announcer for the ABC TV music show Countdown - broadcast from 1974 to 1987 and hosted by Ian "Molly" Meldrum. 

Wood has interviewed music talent of all shapes, styles and sizes - from Daryl Braithwaite to Katrina And The Waves. Other than music reporting on Hey Hey It's Saturday, appearing in movies like Houseboat Horror and popping up on TV quiz shows, Wood also produced TV and movies in L.A., and has returned to Australia to host his own Countdown podcast, chatting to friends he made while on the show.

We spoke to Gavin Wood to reflect on his career.

If you've ever visited Dubbo and the Gold Coast in the last 15 years, you may have heard of Alo Baker on the radio, making a viral food video, or in a fun TV travel documentary.

 While Alo has an extensive radio background, his deep roots are in food, and with the knack for television production, he has produced two travel shows with his mates, and now ventures solo with his own food consumption series - 'The Food Dude' for 7Mate.

Bruno Lucia is a name that people would associate with the phrase "Chicky-babe!" - coined by his character Agent Wayne Lovett from the Channel 9 sitcom All Together Now - a series starring Jon English, Rebecca Gibney, Jane Hall and more. The show ran for four seasons from 1991 to 1993, producing 101 episodes. 2021 the show celebrates 30 years since the original broadcast.  

His CV also includes starring in a Sci-Fi movie with Carrie Fisher, presenting a national tour: In Conversation With The Sopranos, as well as cruise ship performances, and voicing the odd computer game.  We chat to Bruno Lucia about his amazing career.
