Current health issues limit Brother Singh's ability to travel to fellowship meetings. But an added burden is that his presence upsets people. As he gets older, he gets bolder. He speaks plainly: "If you have something in your church that is pagan, I will say so from the pulpit." God called our Pastor to a prophetic ministry, and that is to tell the truth. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness...!" (Isaiah 5:20).

Reviewing recent lessons on the history of the Bible, Brother John reminded us that Scripture records how God called a ministry to represent Him throughout the ages. That pattern has remained the same right up to the 21st Century. Being called God's people through Christ Jesus is a privilege, but our responsibility is far from over. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall HUMBLE themselves, and PRAY, and SEEK my face, and TURN from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." We are in the Body of Christ to be changed according to Almighty God's plan as revealed by His called ministry.

The world is being bombarded with judgment from God. Yet, most people are indifferent. In ancient Israel, when God judged the nation, the people repented. They did not ignore the hand of God in the land.

Some of us live the theory of our religion, while others live their religion.  Brother Thomas Dacca concisely reiterated a principle necessary for our salvation. We need to hear the word of God spoken through His anointed ministry. As an elect, Brother Dacca understands that the only way to qualify for entry into the Kingdom of God is to follow our Pastor, Desmond R. Singh.

He emphasizes that many people listen, but few people hear. Many people sit in church to be educated, but few people allow their lives to be changed by the word of God.

We live in perilous times—the last of the last days. To face the uncertainty of life with confidence, our hope must rest in the word of God. However, let us be confident that we are following the word of God and not scripture. The Bible scriptures record what God inspired old men to record. But to be effective in our lives in this time, Jesus called the “Beginning of Sorrows,” we must embrace the “present truth.” Brother Sam is grateful that Pastor Singh is a called man, anointed by the Holy Spirit to interpret God’s word for today—to lead us—because “many false pr ophets have risen, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many is waxing cold.”

God’s judgment is plunging the world into chaos.  Apocalyptic images of fire and smoke from towns on Maui, Hawaii, are terrifying, as people jumped into the ocean to escape the flames. Brother Singh reminds us that life is fragile, “Humanity is like a flower that blooms today and is gone tomorrow.” As we age, we grow acutely aware that our days are numbered.

“Man, that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow and continues not.” (Job 14:1-2)

Discipleship is a central theme of Brother Singh’s gospel because Jesus demanded it from his followers.  There are four categories of disciples: Disciples of the Lord, the devil, the beastly system, and of oneself. Discipleship demands self-denial and obedience to God in every situation, even if it demands our death.  Such demands are challenging for 21st Century saints because they are antithetical to North American culture, emphasizing the fulfillment of “oneself.”

Last Wednesday’s lesson on faithfulness showed us how the work of God spreads throughout the world. It is essential to understand Biblical patterns and our local history. The Body of Christ does not thrive by accident. God inspires faithful men whose priorities align with the Lord’s will. Without Brother John Mowatt’s faithfulness, Gospel Assembly Church in Mississauga, Canada, would not exist. His love for God and his response to the truth, some 48 years ago, motivated him to establish a fledging church in Toronto. What a remarkable testimony! Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.” When it was determined that the field would produce wheat, Brother Singh was sent to pastor the assembly.

  The Apostle Paul wrote to the saints in Corinth, stating, “…though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye, not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus, I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore, I beseech you, be ye followers of me.”
