A correct concept of who Jesus is and God's plan for the redemption of the elect is essential to our understanding of the church. Greatly encouraged by Brothers John & Vid, the saints, are urged us to look beyond the trials and tribulations of our daily struggles to embrace God's fantastic plan. The Apostle James wrote, "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience" (James 1:2-3). In modern English, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you encounter trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." So, allow perseverance to finish its work, {even the death of a beloved spouse, or a brain tumor} so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Jesus was the best example of a disciple. So, the Apostle Paul urged followers to "let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, Creator, did not think equality with God something to be grasped at, but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." (Philippians 2:5-8, Revised from KJV for clarity).

It is essential to know the authentic Jesus. Although denominational Christendom elevates the name of Jesus, it presents many distorted images of our Lord. Paul beautifully captured a description of the 'real' Jesus in the preceding verse. If we are to develop the mind of Christ—that is, his thought patterns, temperament, and attitude—then we must understand the genuine Jesus.

Brother Sam delivered a powerful message of encouragement to the saints in Mississauga and those who follow online. Emphasizing discipleship, he asserts that we can "let this mind be in {us}, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God" (Philippians 2:56) IF we accept the ministry as being from God and Brother Singh's teaching as the living word of God. Implementing the lessons we receive into our daily lives allows us to walk in the counsel of the Godly.

Rejection of God's anointed ministry is spiritual suicide. Jesus declared, "He that heareth you heareth me, and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me" (10:16). The NLT is clear: "Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me." John 13:20 adds further clarity. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I SEND receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."

Three stumbling blocks hindered the mentality of the Hebrew children. 1) GOLDEN CALVES, representing Egyptian idolatry. 2) BRAZEN SERPENTS representing a past move of God performed in the wilderness. 3) PHILISTINE CARTS representing apostate methods that defy the principles of God.

And if the elect of God is to be saved today from this evil world, we also need to identify and eliminate our golden calves, brazen serpents, and Philistine carts.

Brother Singh returned from his trip to Guyana with a renewed appreciation for the simplicity of the gospel. The good news of salvation can be understood and applied to ordinary lives no matter their education level or cultural achievements. So, our lesson tonight emphasized one crucial concept: Truth is progressive!

Initially, the concept may sound contrary to conventional wisdom until God opens the eyes of our understanding. So, if we are stuck with a non-progressive idea of the truth, our minds are contaminated by apostate religious thinking.

Operating our assembly with minimal staff due to COVID, Brother Singh shared incisive wisdom noted in his first Oxford Bible some 48 years ago. He was new to our fellowship then, fresh from denominational Christianity in Guyana, South America. His mentor, Brother Lloyd L Goodwin, was a profound man of God.  Truth is progressive. As we grow in God, we are exposed to greater truths and more insightful applications. So, it is with those called by God to minister to His people. Join Brother Singh for this warm reminiscing. But let us understand that Israel's journey was theirs alone. Every local assembly of God's people has its journey to endure and upon which to reflect. It Is our Deuteronomy! And each man of God has "his" gospel to preach. The Apostle Paul stated, "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to MY gospel" (Romans 2:16). When I stand in the judgment, I will be held accountable for how I applied Brother Singh's gospel to my life. The principles of God are universal, but He sends specific instructions to deal with issues affecting each local assembly.
