Brother Sam gives a brief history of Brother Singh's ministry in Canada. Appropriately, it starts with Brother Singh's introduction of the gospel of the Kingdom to the nation of Guyana. His message was revolutionary, for light penetrated the darkness of a lesser light available at that time. After humble beginnings, a core of saints responded as the Holy Spirit opened the eyes and ears of their understanding. They formed the nucleus of a work that still survives throughout North and South America today. Most revealing is the personal revelation Brother Sam himself received as a youth eager to serve God. 

Complacency is a deadly fog that can descend on any congregation. In effect, we know the truth but do it not!  (See Romans 1:18) This warning does not apply to the ministry only, but to us, the saints who fail to implement the word of God we receive. The most important doctrine we can learn from scripture is how to live for God. "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil." 

As we struggle to serve God yet cope with the challenges of daily life in this world, it is difficult to remember, “all things work together for good {both negative things and positive things} to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Romans 8:28-29). It is humbly to realize that before God created anything, including his son, you and I were known to him in time, and we were predestined to be conformed, or molded, into persons who willing desire to have the nature of Jesus. 

Noah built the ark to the precise specifications given by God to survive the flood. Now, Jesus stated, "as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be" (Matthew 24:37). Today, we refer to Christ's church as a spiritual ark. Any church not built according to God's exact standards will be unable to offer the controlled environment necessary to produce "overcomers" for the Kingdom. Brother Singh likens the habitat of Christ's church to that of a woman's womb during pregnancy. It must provide the right atmosphere, nutrients, and security for a fetus to develop into a perfect, deliverable child. 

The purpose of spiritual light is to enable the child of God to overcome this dark, corrupt world. The word of God illuminates us to overcome aspects of our fallen nature progressively, bit by bit. Coming out of darkness into light is comparable to the transition from night to dawn. Twilight is a period or state of obscurity and ambiguity where our vision is impaired. Good eyesight is dependent upon a healthy diet. Danger lurks for a child of God who does not ingest mature spiritual food. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)

Let us not just talk about being saved. Salvation requires our active participation, for Jesus "gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father." (Galatians 4:1)

Evidence of our salvation should include a discernable list of discarded pagan customs and traditions. Conversion necessitates change. Then, as we grow in God, He helps us eliminate all unnecessary weights, hindrances, and homage paid to the "god of this world." Brother Desmond R. Singh urges God's people: "In the day of adversity, consider!" (Ecclesiastes 7:14) 

Circumstances change—the laws of a nation change. Cultures change—economic conditions change! But the righteousness of God is everlasting, and His law is truth. Brother Sam offers our heavenly Father praise and thanksgiving for bringing our assembly safety through a very trying year. Yet, we must not rest on our laurels but pursue holiness without which no one will see God.

As 2022 is about to dawn, Brother Singh draws our attention to Matthew's gospel. "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." (Matthew 24:22) We are to recognize the signs of "the time." Our Lord cautioned the disciples, "Take heed that no man deceives you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Mt. 24:4-5) The greatest deception in the world today is not from another religion or a political concept but instead comes from men pretending to speak for Christ.

The four gospel writers each presented their version of the Good News. But your gospel and my gospel are even more relevant. They recount how God called us individually from darkness into light and chronicle our journey on the road to conversion.  Every elect child of God experiences the transforming power of our Lord at work in our lives! And each person engages to some degree in spiritual warfare. Paul wrote, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." (Ephesians 6:10) 

Apostate Christianity has created a poor impression over the past 2,000 years regarding the celebration of the birth of Jesus. 

Drunkenness, sport, and excessive spending—along with many other pagan concepts—have been incorporated into the human perception of Christmas celebrations. Make no mistake, such notions are blasphemous to the name of Jesus. Nevertheless, correct concepts are essential to our understanding, for many of our cherished beliefs about our relationship with God center on myths, not scriptural facts! Under Brother Singh, we are learning to appreciate the significance of our Lord's birth with the reverence it deserves.
