A dead ex-cop. A trail of blood. A missing woman. And Will Trent—already entangled in the case by more than just duty.

From the claustrophobic prologue to the sweltering Atlanta crime scene, we examine first impressions, character dynamics, and the reader reactions (from five-star fan rants to one-star frustration). What’s the deal with Angie? Is this mystery more soap opera than suspense? Or is it the perfect summer thriller?

Grab your fan and a tall glass of sweet tea—we're sweating it out in this one.
