Have you ever tried to watch less TV? It's not easy to do! Unless you're one of those people who doesn't own a TV (which I'm seriously impressed by), it can be hard to strike the right balance between enjoying a good movie and distracting yourself from the things that matter most to you.
As part of my year of less challenge, I did a "No Streaming September" challenge where we put some hard limits on our TV time in the Boyd household. Before starting this challenge, I had fallen into some pretty bad TV habits that I wasn't proud of this year. For example, we fell into the habit of eating dinner in front of the TV every night, and I would frequently wake up on weekends and immediately watch TV while waking up.
In his book, the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, John Mark Comer cited that the average American watches 1,642 hours of television each day. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good movie and will never swear off TV forever, but I also know that I don't want to spend nearly 2,000 hours watching someone else's story unfold while I'm neglecting my own.
I was extremely surprised by what we discovered by going through this No Streaming September Challenge. It was impactful in so many ways and I'm really excited to share my tips, trials, and takeaways with you in this episode! If you're ready to set more intentional limits on TV time (without throwing it out the window) this episode will make getting started super simple for you. Press play to listen to the full episode!
