Our guest today is Christina Vela, their CEO, a powerhouse who is paving the way to so many other latinas and today she will share with us how St. Jude’s Ranch for Children currently operates  and how the Healing Center will be different but serve the same original goals of St. Jude’s Ranch as it celebrated its 57th anniversary in 2023.

Christina comes from a family of helpers. Not because of their job titles but because of our Latino family values. Her parents always opened their home doors to family and friends in need and while they were not wealthy, her family always found a way to help. While as a child She did not see how special this way of life was, She is certain it influenced my whole life.

In high school she became pregnant and in an unhealthy relationship. She realized quickly that she needed to find a pathway out of her neighborhood and to find a way to provide the best life possible for her daughter… that led to many hard choices, to focus her time on a college degree, working full time and being a single parent she learned the depth of her resilience which has served her her whole life.

 Once she became the CEO at St. Jude’s Ranch for Children she dedicated time and resources to the creation of the Healing Center, which will be the first of its kind residential care center for child victims of sex trafficking.
