It hasn't been easy with the pandemic hanging over us for most of the last two years. But maybe we can look for the good in each other (and ourselves) to help get us to the end of this journey.

I guess we got a bit of insight into why the former Liberal Government used to make surprise public health announcements. But I hope the current Progressive Conservatives are ready to step up to help the food services industry that paid a price days before the new rules came into effect.

We've had a lot to deal with over the past few years. And it seems like we'll be dealing with another Christmas with pandemic restrictions. And my thoughts are that more of us (men) should be pitching in to make it a lot merrier for the women in our lives.

It's hard not to agree with the Premier's comments at the end of the latest public COVID briefing. And it's not hard to see what happens when we act like there is no pandemic.

In our car-centric society, it's easy to forget there are others who use wheels to get around. And for those people with mobility issues, they are feeling forgotten with the delays in clearing sidewalks and intersections after a major snow storm. But it makes it better for all of us when we make it easier for people in wheelchairs.

It's not a complete about face, but it is something that I'm struggling with. One municipality is asking the Nova Scotia government to make vaccinations mandatory for all volunteer firefighters in the province. I have a feeling there's only one way that will end. And it's not a good outcome for a service that is already struggling to find and keep members.

Another weather event is moving in, and there's a chance it will be coming just as some people get their power restored from the wind and rain storm overnight. There's currently a hearing underway that has the parent company of Nova Scotia Power asking to charge ratepayers 1.7 Billion dollars for the Maritime Link project. Let's hope the powers-that-be stick to their earlier position of protecting ratepayers until they get what they were promised.

Quite a few people have been posting pictures of their decorated Christmas trees. It's a but early for me, but I'm certainly hoping to get a bit of the spirit of the season soon. And waiting to pick out the "perfect" tree seems to have become part of our family tradition.
