Perspective is everything. And I don't know if I would have been as gracious and grateful as Stephanie Purcell and her family in the face of a difficult time. But I do thank her and her late father Ralph for helping me see that we shouldn't wait for people to pass to celebrate their life, or ours.

Trust is defined as"the firm belief in the character, strength, or truth of someone or something. And there are those among us who don't trust the people who are advising us throughout this global pandemic. And that's a tough pill for me to swallow.

The first snow of the season is a wonder. As in I wonder how many people don't have their snow tires on yet? And there was something the now semi-retired News Anchor Steve Murphy told me about "fake news" that has me asking for three minutes of your time to listen to this.

If you think back to the jobs you left, what was the biggest reason? I've often said, the amount of pay you receive is proportional to the amount of grief or discomfort you'll tolerate. And that's creating a real issue that is affecting our aging parents and grandparents.

It's the latest variant of concern. And scientists and authorities around the planet are taking steps to monitor and control the spread of the Omicron variant of Corona Virus. And experts will tell you their message hasn't changed. We need to do a better job of getting everyone vaccinated, not just the people in the richest countries.

Another variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has scientists worried about the ongoing efforts in the global pandemic. And while Doctor Strang mentioned how he'd like to be able to help everyone keep free of the virus, he pointed out the path forward to a life without restrictions. And it includes the newly available vaccines for children.

Last February, former Premier Stephen McNeil took some time after his last cabinet meeting to thank Geoff MacLellan for his time as a Liberal MLA and Cabinet Minister. At one point in his political career, there was talk that he may some day run for the leadership. Today, MacLellan made his return to the public stage next to Premier Tim Houston.

Traditionally, people who consider themselves politically conservative advocate for smaller governments with less influence on their lives. But when there are disasters or other major challenges (like a pandemic) there's a place for leadership and the use of public resources including money. But I'm not the only one who thinks that shouldn't apply to helping build a golf course on protected land.

According to Statistics Canada, the annual inflation rate is almost at five percent. But it's not affecting everything equally, any more than it's affecting each of us the same way. And with higher food, energy and housing costs, maybe we need to look for a new way to help the people with fixed or pension income.

There are times when it's a challenge to make sense of what's happening with our neighbour to the south. And with the saturation of our news media by stories out of the United States, it's easy to become overwhelmed by the acts of violence and division. But you can always find people who are willing to help, if you look for them.
