Nova Scotia has opened it's first drop in vaccination clinic for people over 18 for their first or second shot. And while access and availability can get us closer to herd immunity, some people are going to refuse to take a shot. How are we going to balance that with the easing of restrictions? Some jurisdictions have offered prizes or other incentives. France told its health care workers to get a shot by fall, or miss out on doing things. Maybe we should just let the majority decide.

A woman from Ontario is complaining about being turned away from a South Shore Resort because of their policy to only allow guests from Atlantic Canada. There are a few other details of the story that had me thinking about the reopening plans as we have more people vaccinated.  And there are other reasons why I think this private company knows exactly what most of its guests are looking for beyond the bunnies and the beaches.

Sometimes you need to take a moment and reflect and reevaluate things after a life changing event. And if COVID taught me anything, it's that there are some things from the past 15 months that I may want to see continue into the future.

All of the signs are pointing to a summer election in Nova Scotia. And traditionally, governing parties in democracies without fixed date elections know incumbents have a advantage if the turnout is lower. Who are the real losers if fewer than one out of two voters even bother to show up?

I'm seeing a few people reporting side effects from both of their vaccinations and others are are anxious about getting the shot because of that. Maybe the people who had no adverse affects should be speaking up to help the ones who may be vaccine hesitant.

Premier Iain Rankin chose to make an announcement about his past behaviour during the COVID briefing on Monday. What we didn't hear was something Doctor Robert Strang has been talking about for years. That there is a culture of over-drinking in Nova Scotia.

More Nova Scotians are re-booking their second vaccination up to a couple of months earlier than originally scheduled. And that's bringing us closer to candidate door-knocking and a provincial election call.

I think we are truly on a path to Truth and Reconciliation. Five years after Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip urged us all to do better, I believe we are moving towards the Canada we need to be if we want to be Treaty People.

With the additional vaccination clinics and extended hours, a lot of people are happy to be receiving their second shot. And I'm also looking forward to being fully vaccinated in two weeks, after I get my second dose later today. I'm warning you in advance that I'll be joining the thousands who are pleased to share the proof.
