Valentine’s Day - the most romantic day of the year has finally arrived and boy are we not ready for it. We go through our dating history and reminisce past years with exes, dating in the cities we live in, and what this day even is to us! 🤔 This episode is a bit of a pessimistic rant, but at the end of the day the take away is really that we are all putting way more meaning into this basically meaningless holiday than we should be. 🤠

It’s not a time to feel bad about being alone, and even more than that it’s not a day to feel loved because we should feel loved for more than one day a year. ❤️❤️❤️

Bringing the pandemic into the mix really added some perspective as well - we just wanna go to a party and be around ANYONE, and being in love is really at the end of our current to do list 😂

„... ok, but isn‘t Freud like suuuuper outdated?“ - if we got a nickle for every time someone asked us that... we‘ll still not be rich but you get the point 😉 so is he? Are Sigmund Freud and his theories outdated and just not relevant anymore?

While this is a very debatable topic and while there definitely are some theories by him that could use a little update, we believe that there are certain things about Freud‘s work that will never be outdated and are still very applicable today. While in today’s society, we are conditioned to have certain thought patterns, are taught to think logically and rationally and to basically go against our gut feeling, at the end of the day, our intuition is very often right. So is intuition your free will? Or is it also just highly conditioned and learned? And how does it connect to your Id, the unconscious, powerful source guiding our lives?

This week we tried to think about imposter syndrome outside the box, and realized that it underlined so many experiences we’ve had in our lives, all the way from exposing our bodies and not wanting people to realize that we ain’t that hot to something as simple as sending an email!! 🤭😐😱 Imposter syndrome is so much more common than we think - even the father of psychoanalysis, good old Sigmund Freud, referred to himself as an “involuntary swindler” 👹

EARTH TO CARLA AND LOLA. Man were we out of it this week! It’s crazy how we matched the topic of the day by being completely disconnected and NOT present while we recorded. This week’s episode is something a lot of us have been struggling with during the pandemic: disconnection and dissociation! What can we do to fix this?!? We always have to separate the pathological examples of things like dissociation, but on a smaller scale the amount of zoning out and confusion we’ve been experiencing has been off the charts!!!

„Okay so I haven‘t heard from them in like 18 days but I am sure they‘re just suuuper busy. Right???“ - WRONG. Sorry to break it to you, but you’ve been ghosted 👻

But at this time, who hasn‘t had that experience? Whether it was a part-time ghoster or a pathological ghost (© mytherapistsaid), ghosting is not a new phenomenon. However, it’s definitely more noticebale nowadays than pre-social media, dating apps, phones etc. This week we chat about our experiences as both ghosts and ghostees (YES THAT‘S A WORD!) and try to figure out what makes people behave that way because as we know: there‘s always a deeper underlying conflict with our behavior 🙃
