This episode is a survey of the strings of the world. Guitars in various styles from the Hungarian folk jazz of Gabor Szabo to the hypnotic drone of Master Wilburn Burchette to the Ethiopian harp of Asnakech Worku. The idea was to find common points between the global string, a widening of the lens from one of my first shows on the oud.

Habibi Funk is a record label (and also a very talented DJ) focusing on rereleasing music from the Arabic Peninsula. There are more than 15 releases under this label and truly each one is a time capsule into a period and moment in music that you absolutely haven't heard before and can't hear anywhere else.

The sort of music that feels niche even for someone like me who spends his time diving down rabbit holes and chasing blue links for the next unheard score, Italian Library Music is an anomaly. A funky, in your face, kind of anomaly.
