To Frederick Pontiac an American citizen caught in Germany by the war death came slowly and painfully of starvation and torture in a cellar of a Nazi prison camp. But death was not the end for Frederick Pontiac it was the beginning of a new and bizarre chapter for he died only a few days too early and his body was hardly cold before his captors saw the handwriting on the wall put there by allied shells. Jessica had been in a sanatorium for nearly a year. She hadn’t been on the stage in more than two years. “The Dark Tower” was to be her first attempt to work again in all that time. It isn’t the greatest play in the world, but it has a sure-fire box office appeal which. Jessica needed to get her confidence back.

A small time hood gets into the counterfeiting business, with surprising results. Love makes the world go round so they say but it also causes a lot of trouble. Take for instance the case of Eddie Ford and Ruth Spreight, they were in love and had been for a long time, childhood sweethearts the kind of thing that usually brings nothing but happiness and good fortune. But Eddie and Ruthie were born on the wrong side of town. They grew up on Second Avenue and that’s not exactly the best environment. Eddies love for Ruth began to show itself in the wrong way. At 7 he stole an apple for her, at 14 he stole a car to take her for a ride, at 17 he’d spent his first night in jail and at 22 he is established as a small crook in town…
