In the early 2000s, both Manny Pacquiao and Edwin Valero were new and hard-hitting lower weight sensations. Their career trajectories were clearly on different paths, but for a few years, Pacquiao-Valero was a mythical matchup most fans would have been happy to get. And we really weren't that far from getting it.
