This story that I have for you is a tad shorter, but I wanted to highlight it because of how bizarre it is. It reminds me of a Netflix series that I watched called, “Surviving Death.” They discuss concepts that are oddly really similar to the Hmong culture and what shamans explain that they see when entering the spiritual world. If you’re interested in those kinds of things, I do recommend you taking a look. For the record, I am not paid to say this, I just really like these kinds of things.

There is a known story in the Hmong community that has affected a lot of us in different ways. This story, I believe, needs to be told. My older sister and I co-wrote this story based on research that we found. If you are interested in reading the articles, they are linked in the description. There are so many different opinions and views involved with this story that it was extremely hard to capture just the facts.

We are on our second domestic violence story. I’m going to be honest that I had troubles reading this story. I had to put it down twice before finishing. To some, it may not be a big deal, but for a few of us - it’s terrifying. I actually didn’t think before starting this domestic violence series that these stories could possibly trigger me. It’s a work in progress! Thanks for being patient with me.

Again, I know MYX in the Dark tells scary stories. When it comes to abuse - something physical, emotional, or mental that affects a person - THAT to me counts as a true scary story, which is why this is our theme for the month of April. 

Remember, these episodes are not meant to blame or shame anyone - it is simply to allow a space of healing, learning, and opportunity to tell your stories and let others know that they are not alone. 

As I am narrating these stories, I will be opting out of ads, promotions, or any revenues attached to the episodes due to the nature of the content.

I will be turning 28 soon here in April and so I am choosing to bring out content that is relevant, important, and personal to me. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and just haven’t found the correct time to do it. I feel the time is now. I am choosing to dedicate the month of April to the horror stories of those who have suffered or are suffering from domestic violence. 

MYX in the Dark tells scary stories. As a person who has survived an abusive relationship, I’m going to be very honest with you that I can take ghosts, spirits, sounds at night, whatever, but when it comes to abuse - something physical, emotional, or mental that affects a real person - THAT to me counts as a true scary story. 

 There are SO many forms of abuse. I want to share a definition from the National Domestic Violence Hotline, “Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship.

Let me be clear that these episodes are not meant to blame or shame anyone - it is simply to allow a space of healing, learning, and opportunity to tell your stories and let others know that they are not alone.

I was reading this new story that I have for you in this episode and it reminded me of something that happened to me just this past week. I wrote out my odd experience and was prepared to record for this episode, but I just couldn’t find the courage to do it. I usually release episodes on Mondays and it is now Tuesday so I do apologize. My episode is late because I was scared to record my personal story so what I’m going to do is actually hand off my story to my good friend Leng Vang to record it in Hmong and my friend Tales From the Abyss 87 to record it in English. I don’t know when they will get to recording my story, but you may find their information on the description of this episode. 

The story in this episode is sent to me by a listener and it also creeps me out SO much. I truly hope that me telling scary stories is not attracting any negative energies. If anyone has a remedy for this - let me know. Otherwise, pray for me.  Enjoy!
