Saint Oniisan was written and illustrated by Hikaru Nakamura and is a unique manga in a lot of ways. Firstly, It is a comedy manga that actually does comedy tastefully and mindfully. Next is the story. It is a story about Jesus and Buddha who have both come down to Earth together on a vacation. They live together and go on trips, and enjoy human pleasures. While this topic might make most people fly off the handle, Saint Oniisan has good comedy that doesn't offend but plays off mythology itself. Very few jokes are targeted towards the deities themselves, and even those aren't offensive. It is a list of chapters that seemingly don't follow any overall plot, but there are callbacks to previous chapters at times. It brings out the ideologies these two people had and it also derives humour from the human concepts of heaven, hell, God, and more. 

Simple things like Jesus loving technology and running a blog, Buddha saving and buying an expensive rice cooker to make fragrant rice or even something like a restaurant waitress telling them that you (customers) are Gods and they think their identities are uncovered. There is also a running gag of Buddha's earlobes being very long and little kids poking his forehead, calling him a "Button Alien". As for Jesus, he randomly turns water into wine or turns things to bread. He specifies that he can only make rye bread and can't make complicated bread like yakisoba. It is hard to explain these jokes through text, of course, so we recommend you read it yourself! There is an anime, which you can check out, but we don't recommend the live-action. It looks.. weird. GetBackers is what our podcast is about today! "FINALLY!", Says Bru. GetBackers, written by Yuya Aoki and illustrated by Rando Ayamine is a classic, inspiring a lot of modern shounen troupes

GetBackers is about two men who have a recovery service. Amano Ginji, who can control and amplify electricity, and Midou Ban, who has a 200 KG grip and a unique eye trick called the 'Jagan'. These two together are the successful GetBackers, the recovery service with a nearly 100% success rate! They have a lot of cool adventures and a lot of cool friends. There's threadmaster Kazuki, who uses threads and weaves them intricately to restrict the movements of his enemies while attacking them at the same time. There's the beastmaster Shido, who can control animals by whistling to them. There is Dr. Jackal, who isn't really an ally but is a madman. A very cool madman. He hides knives inside him and pulls them out to attack people. He's so fast with his attacks that his enemies don't realise that they are cut, that is, until a giant 'J' pops up on their front and back. There's also Himiko, AKA Lady Poison, who controls 7 deadly poisons and uses them in battle, rivalling anyone in the series in terms of power.

And the main storyline takes place in the Limitless Fortress. A huge construction project that was abandoned and became the home of all those who were rejected by the city, attracting people to come inside to seek refuge and also hosting abandoned kids like Ginji and his friend, Makubex. The Limitless Fortress is one of the coolest settings in anime! Beautiful art and an imaginative mind explode together to form a labyrinth of urban hell where anyone could get lost. Want to make it better? The upper floors of the Limitless Fortress are called 'Babylon City'. Without spoiling anything, Babylon City is a high tech building with a lot of super strong and super smart people housed inside. The lower floors refer to the leader of Babylon City as 'The God of the Limitless Fortress'.

Valve's Dota 2 game comes in anime form now! Dota: Dragon's Blood is the topic of our podcast today! Welcome back to Weeb101! All hail Gaben and IceFrog!  

Dota 2 is a MOBA. Not just any MOBA. It is the father of MOBAs! It was started as a humble custom map on Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and the people who kept developing it kept switching, and it started gaining popularity. At last, when it became Dota Allstars, a legendary person named only as "IceFrog" took over development and has been working on the same for decades. His version is the most popular and he was eventually hired by Valve and give full reign of Dota 2. This game is now the e-sport with the highest prize pools in history, beating out even some traditional sport competition prizes!  

This anime, made by Netflix and Valve is a new path taken, following the hero "Davion: The Dragon Knight", Mirana: The Princess of the Moon, The Invoker, Luna, The Demon Terrorblade, and Selemene, the Goddess of the Moon! These characters weave together a story unlike any other and take you on a trip upon Dota's magic ship. Through the lands, and into the lore. There are easter eggs for the fans along the way, while these same easter eggs behave as ways to introduce anime-only watchers to certain game mechanics. Check out the anime! You might love it! And do check out the game that made esports a thing! Dota 2!

Today, we're doing a Deep Dive into our Fears in life. Welcome back to Weeb101! Your one-stop for all things anime.  

Everyone fears something or the other and fear is a powerful motivator. Bru works in the advertising industry and he has seen firsthand the type of crazy methods used by companies to scare you into buying a product. This can be anything and fear advertising has become a normal part of our lives, which is very weird, seeing how humans should be making each other comfortable, instead of making each other scared of something.  

Anyway, our fears. We are scared of a lot of things in life, but nothing that can actually motivate us to buy or spend money. We do have a lot of fears that can be... exploited. For example, Audi can't stand cockroaches. He freaks out with them. If they start flying, hoo boy. Sid is dead scared of spiders. We believe the medical term is spider-o-phobia, which he definitely has. We try our best to not freak him out if we see a spider, which is often. India has a loooot of spiders. Bru... He has no fears. He is God.

Weeb101 is back with another live stream! This time, we discussed the Spring Anime 2021 list and shared our thoughts on what seems good and what seems bad.   

Boku no Hero Academia/ My Hero Academia season 5 seems to be the biggest hype anime of this year, but there are a few interesting ones out there. There's a show that Sid is interested in that is called Megalo Box, which is on its second season. He also really dislikes the one Bru seems to vibe with, a story about a dragon that doesn't fit into society and is bullied. There are also a few movies that seem to have caught our eye. Evangelion movie anyone?  

Additionally, OVAs are interesting this Spring, with one particular one about a mafia member who gives up a life of crime and becomes a house husband. How he does this and how he manages might be really fun to watch. Yasuke is another and we've discussed this in our Big if True episode coming out tomorrow. There is also a robot-themed OVA where in a world where human children are rare, two robots find a human child and become its adopted parents

What a Wonderful World, or Subarasi Sekai is the review we're doing today on our podcast. Welcome back to Weeb101, and today, we look at something that reaches PunPun levels of existential crisis in its readers.  

Oyasumi PunPun and Subarashii Sekai are by the same author:  Inio Asano. Asano-san seems to want us to slowly descend into madness as we read the manga, as he follows a theme of the absurdism of modern life. The manga, and PunPun for that matter, follow the life of the average Japanese citizen, delving into the intricacies of day to day Japanese life, and the absurdism that follows it everywhere. Subarashii Sekai can quickly be described as a group of short stories that are loosely related to each other.   

These short stories aren't simple by any means, though! It becomes increasingly complex as there is a web of relationships that get built around as the stories merge from one to another. That person's boyfriend is the next person's brother, who's the next person's husband, who's the next person's lover from years ago. While it's not absolutely vital that you know every relationship, figuring out how people are related to each other adds a better feeling of everyday life and how the world is connected. Banana Fish is the series we're covering today! This podcast is going to cover the series, manga and anime, and we're going to let you guys know what we think. Almost like a review, but a podcast instead. If you don't listen fully, Bru will feed you some Banana Fish.  

Banana Fish is a shoujou manga. For Bru, that meant a more slice-of-life type manga with a theme that was easygoing. Instead, right from the first chapter, there are gunfights, explosions, wars, murders and more. What? There's also a yaoi element to the series, which we were interested to see the development of, as shounen manga just don't have yaoi relationships and even the relationship is crazy, messed up and involved in drugs, wars and crime. There is also some disturbing imagery and language, so please read this 

TRIGGER WARNING: rape and paedophilia. 

It can easily disturb or trigger someone who has been through something similar.   

This podcast was more of a fun way of taking things, where we're laughing and joking around instead of serious just talking about the series. A lot of laughs and a lot of fun later, we ended the episode to stop ourselves from going to places we shouldn't. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Attack on Titan, or Shingeki no Kyojin, is the anime that we are covering in this episode of our Podcast. Does it suck? This review isn't really a review, but it is our opinions on the manga. The world loves this series! They're crazy about it! And we.. are not. 

Well, Weeb 101 always has a different take on things and here we are! We're fighting against the biggest (?) series of 2021! Season 4 of AoT is still not fully out and we are already here to insult everything you love about this series. Please don't cancel us! It's just an opinion. 

TL;DR of the video:

We like Attack on Titan and the story behind it. We're more turned off by the fanbase than anything. We really think it was a good story that got lost on the way due to terms like "genius" being thrown about and force on Isayama. 

This led to intense pressure on the mangaka to actually do something that would surpass all the levels that he already reached with the manga. In fact, every little thing seems to be taken and made into a huge matter by the fanbase. A simple reference to Hallucigenia became a thing that was wondered upon and people ended up saying, "Isayama is God. He has something planned"

It's a reference, and a good one, but it is overhyped by the fans. We would rate Attack on Titan higher if the fanbase wasn't toxic.

Monster is a mystery/horror story with a hint of the supernatural, but Naoki Urasawa does a good job creating a fun and engaging story.

We discuss the small details of the manga and talk about murder, mystery and a whole lot of hypnosis. Or borderline hypnosis. Well, you'll see. Space Brothers might not be the typical manga, but it is quite a refreshing feel after covering so many shounen/ action manga for so long. It is a serene look into space, with a lot of accuracies and a lot of future predictions. That's not to say there is no action or hype moments or emotional scenes. Space Brothers combines everything into a very pleasing package. The main character, Mutta, is very similar to Bru, as noted by the entire Weeb 101 cast. Maybe you'll think so too!

WARNING. Spoilers, of course, but this warning is to let you know that Bru flies off the deep end, confessing to murder, wanting to end lives in space, or launch dead bodies into space. It can get quite... dark.
