Fear Divides Love Unites

Dr. Valdes talks about how people have allowed this virus to instill fear in the population, and what we do not realize is that fear divides us, whereas love unites us. We used to hate our political rivals, not because we believe that to be a democrat or republican was terrible. We felt that if you are a republican, you have the fear that liberals are taking your guns, and destroying families, etc., and if you are a democrat, you fear that Republicans are going to make your liberal rights, so it's all about fear. Dr. Valdes mentions that in the bible, the expression FEAR NOT appears more than 360 times, so let us cling to the fact that the only thing we need to fear is fear itself.

EPISODE SHOW NOTES

In this podcast, Dr. Valdes expresses his view on the CORONAVIRUS Pandemic. According to Dr. Valdes, he sees this virus through his lenses formed as a result of a dangerous hard life that included tortures, lengthy prison sentences, forfeiture of millions of dollars. Dr. Valdes is angered at both liberal and conservative media for spreading enormous fear upon people. Yes, our world will never be the same, but that does not necessarily mean that it will end. So if the world will not end then we have two choices, either we buy into the fear and be depressed, or we believe that our God is bigger than this virus and that He would never give us more than we can handle. In conclusion, Dr. Valdes suggests that instead of letting the media scare us to death, let us find the good in this virus. For one, we now have the opportunity to spend quality time with our children and with our spouses, find joy in doing simple things as a family. But the greatest gift is the opportunity to share our faith with hurting people, to love those who feel unloved, to help all we can, and finally pray for the many people who are homeless, elderly, and alone.

Your Eschatology Defines Your Ethics

Dr. Valdes talks about a line he uses when he talks to gang members and others at youth rallies. He explains that what he means when he says that your eschatology defines your ethics. He states how you look at tomorrow determines how you act today. If you believe that there is a tomorrow, your actions are very different than if you do not think there is a tomorrow and accept that all that matters are today. He explains this as he contrasts how he looked at life when he was a Drug Lord.

Prison Reform/Massive Incarceration

In today's episode, Dr. Valdes takes on the subject of massive incarceration, which it's a direct by-product of the failing war on drugs. Dr. Valdes suggests that when the government tells us that they are tough on crime because they want to make us safer is a lie. Dr. Valdes presents that America is 4.25 of the world's population, yet it has over 24% of all the inmates in the world. He talks about how corruption is the cause behind this lie that the government tells all of us. I believe we see inmates as nothing more than inventory to enrich many companies who pay politicians enormous amounts of money to incarcerate people and make sure that once they are in prison, they stay in jail. We must hold our elected officials accountable because everyone can be a victim of this horrific and self-serving laws. Inmates can be rehabilitated and become contributing members of our society. Our taxpayer dollars are spent on making corporations productive and pay for political campaigns while our kids are dying of much-needed medicines and mental health treatment. It's time we say: ENOUGH!
