Adam continues to explore the question of What if "this" (Covid-19 pandemic) is a little like exile? What can we learn from exile? What if the Bible invites us to make sense of our exile by seeing how Judah made sense of theirs? 

What if this slowing down, this disorientation, is a chance to do the work of self-assessment, repentance, and worship?

Adam explores these questions and more in week 2 of the Life in Exile series.

After you finish tuning into the Easter In Exile gathering, hop in your car, on a hiking trail, or on a neighborhood walk for our "Easter in Exile Roadshow Experience." This is a supplemental podcast with some additional questions and reflections from Adam that are best processed with friends or family. We think it will be a meaningful experience for everyone.

With all that is going on right now, life as we knew it is at the very least on hold, if not forever different.  We have this sense that we’re living in the midst of a before and after set of circumstances.

It’s a little like exile.  Much of what we knew by way of normalcy and routine is gone and we have no idea as to what extent or for how long.

Exile is brutal. But what if exile is also an opportunity?  What if it's not important that we like exile, but it is important that we make use of it?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how forgetful are you?
What if the coronavirus is exposing our human tendency toward forgetfulness?
What's the cost of forgetting what it means to be human?

Adam spends time in Genesis and Psalm 103 looking at what it means to be human and the benefits of remembering we are dust.

• Next to this, what was the most disorientating season of your life?
• How did that story end?
• In what ways do you see the "not so easy to see at the time" footprints of God?
• What can we take from that experience and apply to this one?

In the third week of the Poor Choices series, Adam asks the question: What does it look like to practice generosity in this season of coronavirus?

• How might that impact our shopping?
• How might it impact the support we lend people suddenly without work?
• What about small businesses and restaurants?
• What about services like the YWCA?
• How might generosity change our community’s emotional experience of the pandemic?
• How might it change our own experience of fear and worry?

In the second week of the Poor Choices series, Adam talks about what if we are already rich? 

Have you ever known someone who was good a being rich? What if before you can be good at being rich, you first have to accept that you are rich? What if being good at being rich is an acquired skill?
