In today's image, we see a number of objects in the sky over France. This includes the airglow which is light from the atmosphere when energized by photons from our Sun. We also see the Milky Way Galaxy, the star Sirius, the planet Mars, and a number of emission nebulae here.

In today's image, we see two nebulae, known as the Heart Nebula and the Should Nebula. These are examples of emission nebula which are located in star forming regions where gas left over from star formation is energized by ultraviolet light from newly formed, hot stars.

In today's image, we see Comet ZTF and the planet Mars together in the sky. Mars will be visible for the next couple of months. However, the comet is fading and will soon disappear from view as it heads to the outer solar system.

In today's image, we see an unusual type of cloud, called a mammals cloud. There are rounded rather than flat on the bottom and are occasionally visible in regions around thunderstorms.

In today's image, we see both the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds in the sky over Chile. These are two small satellite galaxies of our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

In today's image, we see two comets together in a telescopic view. This is comet ZTF which we have been looking at over the past couple of months as well as comet Atlas which is much fainter, but also made its closest approach to Earth in the past couple of weeks.

In today's image, we see an image of clouds on Earth known as nacreous clouds. These form in the lower stratosphere which usually has no clouds when the temperatures are very low, forming ice crystals.

In today's image, we see the nebula around a Worf-Rayet star. The Wolf-Rayet stars are the most massive and hottest stars in the universe and are the type that will end their lives as supernovae. Here we see a nebula of material expelled by the stellar wind and pushed out into space, energized by the ultraviolet radiation of the star.

In today's image, we see Comet ZTF as images in late January between the Big and Little Dippers in the northern sky. Comet ZTF is now heading out into the solar system again and is fading although it can still be viewed with a pair of binoculars or a small telescope.

In today's image, we see the star cluster at the center of the Rosette Nebula. The energy from the stars is in the process of clearing out the central regions of gas and dust. In a fe million year, all that will remain is the cluster of stars as the star formation progresses.
