In this episode, we talk with three different leadership practitioners to discuss current trends in leadership programs on their campuses. We hope that these conversations spark a new idea for you or provide knowledge on how to address any challenges you may be facing in this area on your campus. We are first joined by Taylor Stokes, the Assistant Director, Leadership Initiatives in the Brown Center for Leadership, Service, Student Activities, and Involvement at the University of Florida. Then we engage in dialogue with Megan Webster, the Assistant Director of Leadership and Professional Development in the Academic and Career Development Center at Fairfield University. Lastly, we talk with Dr. John Mark Day, who currently serves as the Director of Leadership and Campus Life at Oklahoma State University. In episode 42, we are thrilled to be joined by Duke's Katie Colleran, Clemson's Kate Radford, and the University of Miami's Andrew Wiemer to discuss the annual ACC Leadership Symposium. This amazing leadership initiative brings together students from all 15 ACC member institutions every February. You'll hear about Andrew's Oscar pick, Katie's work to keep libraries "in business," and Kate's struggle with household wizards. Our guest on Episode 41 is Dr. Shannon Ellis, who currently serves as the Vice President for Student Services at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has received two Fulbright awards in her career for studies in Germany and Japan and she has also served as the president of NASPA. In this episode, you will get to know the role running plays in Shannon’s life, what’s in her reading rotation, and the impact her Fulbright experience had on her as a student affairs professional. Shannon then dives into how she conceptualizes her leadership responsibility as an executive, what NASPA brings to student affairs, and the focus of the Division of Student Services at University of Nevada, Reno has on leadership.
