  • Episode 4 - We put champions on racetracks and common sense on the agenda

    Send a text

I ended my inaugural speech in Parliament with “we put food on your plate and champions on racetracks” and not a truer sentence has ever been spoken in that place….

This week the Mildura Rural City Council launched their Motorsport strategy - Powered by Passion, and is it what.

John Kontrec hosted the evening and we’ll hear from motorsport John shortly, but there was a panel discussion with five of Mildura’s most impressive motorsport champions and all of them say the same thing - they love Mildura…

Chatting to the likes of Josh Waters, Chelsea Stevens, Phil Lamattina, Leigh Adams and Rick Kelly - I am more excited now about the future of motorsport in this region than I’ve ever been.

These are people who have lived it - and are still living it,  they’re passion about their craft, their home and no what it takes to make it.

These are the people we need to listen too.

  • Episode 3 - Uncle Colin Clarke makes a lot of common sense

    Send a text

Uncle Colin Clarke - a Barkindji- Ngyimpaa man, passionate about common sense, listening to the right people and the work he does, Brother to Brother with Dardi Munwarra.

Dardi Munwurro (Strong Spirit) is a specialist Aboriginal family violence service with a vision is to build stronger families and safer communities.

Dardi Munwarra aims to empower and inspire individuals to heal the past, acknowledge the present and create a positive vision for the future.

This is Uncle Col’s passion - bringing lived experience to his role to make a difference.

This was the first time I’d met Uncle Col after chatting with his family and them suggesting I talk to him as he works in the justice and prison system.

Now it took Uncle Col a little bit to warm up,  but by the end he was telling me stories from Warrakoo, from his time picking grapes, driving sheep at 16, ghost stories and having a good old yarn.

But that’s an important part of building trust right?

Going wherever the conversation takes you, so down the track when you need honest answers,  you know you can trust you have someone who should be listened to,  to give you the answers you seek,  not the answers supplied in talking points from an agency who's measured on service delivery rather than KPI's.

  • Episode 2 - Logic & common sense

    Send a text

Federal leader of the Nationals, David Littleproud was in Melbourne for a few hours during the last sitting week and I managed to lock him in my office for a few minutes to chat about all sorts of things that are topical at the moment - supermarkets, renewables & nuclear, farming and good old fashioned common sense.

We also have a new theme song written and performed by Mick Harrington.  Honestly,  the talent this bloke has in his little finger is more than most people could ever dream to posess.
We shall sit down and have a good chat to Mick in the next few months so if you have any burning questions,  then please,  send them through.

Keep up to date with everything going on via my website: jadebenham.com.au

  • Episode 1 - Common sense & Kokoda

    Send a text

We here the phrase "common sense isn't that common any more!" quite frequently don't we?
We're bringing it back.  Not to sure about making it sexy again,  but the Vic Nats are making common sense cool again.
