Dr Susannah Helman is Curatorial Manager, Exhibitions Branch, National Library of Australia, and one of the curators of Keepsakes: Australians and the Great War, which presents some of the Library’s unique collection of manuscripts, ephemera, artworks, photographs and documents relating to the First World War. She discusses Arthur Wheen’s translation of All Quiet on the Western Front in the context of his other papers displayed in the exhibition Keepsakes.
