Max Scherzer wasn't exactly sharp, but the Washington Nationals' right-hander battled for six innings and the Nats' bullpen did the rest in what ended up a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. The Nats beat the Braves for the 11th win in a row against Atlanta in the nation's capital. Daniel Murphy and Wilson Ramos came up big on offense as well as the Nationals improved 4-1 so far.

Washington Nationals' starter Joe Ross rebounded after a shaky start and put together a solid out in the Nats' 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins in Nationals Park. Jayson Werth and Clint Robinson came up with big hits late in the game to put the Nationals ahead and Blake Treinen and Jonathan Papelbon locked it down in the eighth and ninth inning, respectively. Nats improve to 3-1 with the win.

Daniel Murphy and Bryce Harper provided some offense, but the Washington Nationals were not able to overcome the Miami Marlins in the Nats' home opener, falling 6-4 on Thursday.

Stephen Strasburg put together a solid start against the Atlanta Braves and Matt den Dekker came up with the big hit for the Washington Nationals in what ended up a 3-1 win in Turner Field. Jonathan Papelbon made it interesting, but earned his second save in two games in the 9th. Nationals now 2-0 under new skipper Dusty Baker. Up next, the home opener in D.C. tomorrow afternoon...

Washington Nationals' GM Mike Rizzo has rebuilt the Nats' bullpen, added second baseman Daniel Murphy on a free agent deal and now traded for a left-handed leadoff hitter in Ben Revere. The Washington Nationals were rumored to be in the process of signing Bud Black as their new manager, but over the weekend things went awry with the negotiations and this morning the Nats ended up naming Dusty Baker as the sixth full-time skipper since baseball's return to the nation's capital in 2005. What went wrong? Who makes a one-year offer? Was Baker the right choice in the end anyway? Was all the drama really necessary? What's next for the Nats?

Earlier this afternoon the Washington Nationals announced that they made the decision to fire manager Matt Williams and dismiss all of the Nats' coaches, though GM Mike Rizzo, when he spoke to reporters, said some of the coaches were offered other positions in the organization. The Nationals will immediately begin the search for their new manager with a focus on experience and finding someone who can help them win now.

The Washington Nationals took two of three from the NL East division winners from New York, but couldn't complete the sweep of the season-ending series in Citi Field, dropping a 1-0 decision in Game 162 of 162 to finish at 83-79 overall in a disappointing 2015 campaign. At least the Nationals weren't no-hit... though it came close. See you next season, NatsTown.
