This week, we dove headfirst into H.D. Carlton’s Does It Hurt?—and let’s just say... it was a ride. For the first 30 minutes, we roast this book like it’s our job: from the excessive amount of sex (like, is anyone hydrated??) to the emotionally chaotic Italian man who can’t decide if he wants to comfort you or destroy you.

But then—like the book itself—we spiral into obsession. Because dark romance is gonna dark romance, and suddenly we’re defending boat-bound breakdowns, shark metaphors, and morally gray trauma-bonding like it’s gospel.
