It's a deal that involves more than $400 million and a small Pacific island nation.

As you heard earlier in the week, the federal government will pay Nauru to resettle non-citizens caught up in the so-called NZYQ decision.

The High Court ruled in 2023 that ongoing detention of an unlawful non-citizen with no reasonable prospect of removal was unconstitutional. It prompted the government to look for resettlement options. But can Nauru facilitate this latest deal?
