Sports apparel company Brooks has been put on the back foot after Speedo successfully opposed a trade mark registration.

Brooks applied to the Intellectual Property Office NZ to register a trade mark in the shape of a chevron but the assistant commissioner of trade marks Jane Glover said Speedo already had a registered trade mark that was too similar.
