  • NEATCast Episode 8 - Brain Basis of Positive Choice Bias and Resilience

In this episode, the NEATLabs team chats with Rebecca Rammensee from RPTU Germany on the neuro-cognitive basis of resilience, based on her 2026 study published in the Journal of Neuroscience.

While clinical populations (e.g., individuals with anxiety or depression) tend to exhibit negative processing biases, healthy individuals typically display a mild positive bias. In her study of healthy adults, Rebecca and team found that positive information bias is associated with stronger neural responses to negative information in dorsal Anterior Cingulate Cortex and Insula (the core nodes of the Salience Network). Additionally, positive bias is important because it correlates with stress resilience, specifically the "acceptance of self and life" subscale of the Resilience Scale.
