Rehoboam – Have you ever given someone great advice and they didn’t take it? Has someone ever given you great advice, and you didn’t take it? Great advice is wasted advice when we’ve already made up our mind. That’s why we need the humility to seek advice from wise people, and the wisdom to listen and follow. King Rehoboam could have done that, but didn’t. He teaches us some valuable lessons by his failure.

Solomon may have been the wisest man (besides Jesus) who ever lived, but that doesn’t mean he always got it right. We learn from the books he wrote , and what was written about him, that his life took some pretty serious twists and turns. Proverbs, Song of Solomon, and Ecclesiastes all offer wisdom from things he did right, and things he did wrong. There’s plenty to learn from Israel’s third king.
