Samuel was the last Judge in Israel, the prophet and priest who helped bring about spiritual renewal in the land. His life radically impacted the spiritual climate of the nation. As followers of Jesus, we have the same opportunity to raise the spiritual temperature of the environments we move in and out of every day.

Joshua – Four times in Joshua chapter one, it says, “Be strong and courageous.” Three times, God told Joshua to BE those things. The fourth time, the people told Joshua they would follow him like they followed Moses, only, he needed to BE those same two things! Apparently, this was an important command, one he needed to hear…four times! We may need to hear it too.

Abraham – In Genesis chapter 12, God called Abraham to become the father of a great nation. God would give him a promised land, many blessings, and through him the entire world would be blessed (think Jesus Christ!). Abraham believed God so strongly, he became the father–not only of the Jews–but of all who share his amazing faith.
