Team Hoyt Las Vegas was inspired by the father and son duo Rick and Dick Hoyt. This is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created for individuals who would not be able to experience the same endurance activity as able bodied runners.  Team Hoyt Las Vegas's goal is to give individuals the experience in the following events: Triathlons, Marathons, 10k and 5k. For nearly 80 years, the Junior League of Las Vegas has been instrumental in founding numerous nonprofits and improving the community. Philanthropy is at the heart of the Junior League of Las Vegas, and our commitment to giving back through volunteerism and financial support has been essential in driving positive change and fostering a sense of unity and purpose within our community. The Junior League of Las Vegas, through the Public Education Foundation, will be awarding five scholarships of $5,000 each. It’s focused on young women from Clark County, Nevada, who are high school seniors or enrolled in any year of college or vocational school. Joining Forces is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement program that promotes statewide enforcement in the areas of impaired or distracted driving, pedestrian safety, speeding and seat belt use. How a gift to Disaster Relief can help Your gift to Red Cross Disaster Relief helps people affected by disasters like home fire, hurricanes, tornadoes and countless other crises. Financial donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.  https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/ Help Available for Individuals and Households The American Red Cross is committed to providing individuals affected by the devastating wildfires with safe shelter, access to food, basic health services, and emotional support. In addition to assisting those currently in our shelters, we will also begin providing financial assistance to Californians who lived within the fire perimeters of Eaton, Palisades, Hurst, and Kenneth, as defined by Cal OES. Starting January 15, 2025, we will actively begin outreach to specific individuals whose primary residences were located within these defined areas. These individuals are eligible for this initial Red Cross Immediate Financial Assistance program. For those we have contact information for, we will send an invitation to enroll via email, text message, or phone call directly from the American Red Cross. These invitations are sent via email and text, based on the contact information we have available; phone calls will also be made. If you receive an invitation to complete an application for financial assistance you can complete the entire process virtually by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to enroll, confirm eligibility and receive financial assistance. Each household will receive at least 3 contact attempts, defaulting to phone calls when other methods are not available. There are thousands of people in the outreach list, and it takes time for us to reach everyone. These messages will in sent batches of around 1500-2500 per day.   Emails will come from “American Red Cross” with the email address [email protected] For the text message and phone call, the number can vary.   All Red Cross services, including immediate financial assistance, are available to individuals regardless of nationality, race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. The Red Cross is a charity, not a government agency and people do not need to be American citizens to receive our help. Red Cross financial assistance is not a loan and does not need to be repaid.

Project 150 is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 community-based organization with a primary objective to increase the viability and recognition of youth in Southern Nevada. Project 150's Scholarship Program is one of the many vehicles used by our organization to ensure that students are provided assistance to achieve higher education goals.   ​ This program is open to all high school seniors and current college students who would like to apply for financial assistance to attend any of Nevada's higher education institutions. Applications are accepted beginning in October and close in April. Awards are announced in late May/Early June and awardees are invited to the annual Award Luncheon in June. ​ ​The Annual Scholarship Award Celebration is our favorite event of the year!  This event recognizes and honors the recipient's hard work and dedication to their education. Food Drive We are getting ready for our 2025 Fill the Pantry Food Drive, scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025 at participating Smith's Food & Drug stores in the Las Vegas valley and surrounding communities! The annual event helps RMHC meet the basic nutritional and essential needs for families that must travel to Las Vegas for their children's medical treatment. The Giving Machine, the popular “vending machine” that makes it easy to donate to others will return to Downtown Summerlin and The District at Green Valley Ranch. Interview with Marisol Minyard/Store Manager for Walmart Las Vegas and Major Harold Laubach/Divisional Secretary for Clark County, The Salvation Army Southern Nevada regarding three programs for community involvement and contribution for the 2024 Christmas season: Angel Tree, Holiday Meal Program, and Red Kettle Donations. Mr. Laubach shared the background of the TSA and the many services the TSA provides to the Las Vegas valley throughout the year and during the holidays. We discussed how these programs benefit our community locally, how the community can get involved through these programs and volunteer opportunities.
