It’s the new single from their upcoming CD Harlem: Afro Future Roots, a special collection of Spirituals honoring the 31 shackled-and-chained ancestors who freed themselves from slavery. In 1826 on a boat from Baltimore to deep south death, they threw their captors overboard and escaped to freedom. They we will also be at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC to celebrate the Seneca Village exhibit on Feb 24 & 25, 2023. Veinna is a good friend of Neon Jazz .. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Korean-born, New York-based Composer & Bassist SeaJun Kwon .. He talked about his new 2022 CD Micro-Nap with his Walking Cliché Sextet. It is on saxophonist Kevin Sun's Endectomorph Music label. The bassist’s presence in the States – and on the jazz scene – was a seismic shift that happened fairly rapidly. He first played an upright bass just eight months before enrolling at NEC. Prior to that, he had been living in Seoul, South Korea, studying computer science and machine learning and occasionally tinkering with an electric bass .. These days he is well on his way .. A cinematic musical world that  combines jazz improvisation with modern production aesthetics and a compositional approach that borders on contemporary classical music. He spent some time talking about his life in music and his latest 2023 album called It Was Time ... He grew up in Las Vegas, attended Loyola University in New Orleans for two years then transferred to Boston University, and then played for one season with the Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra before joined the United States Air Force Band at March Air Force Base in California, which led to the United States Air Force Band of the Rockies for four years and then on to Cincinnati .. Over the last 20 years, Mark has performed in many different musical projects .. He’s got quite a story .. Enjoy this interview ..
