Born in Richmond California, in the cradle of East Bay Funk, he started playing bass at the age of 15. Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with NYC Jazz Bassist & Composer Marty Isenberg .. We spent some quality time talking about his debut 2023 CD The Way I Feel Inside .. Playing bass was love at first pluck as his career as a jazz musician began at the age of 12 after losing his father to cancer the year prior. For almost 20 years, he has been part of the rich New York City music scene. His performing career weaves though many styles of music, from jazz, to classical music, to theater and contemporary music. He pulls from all of these experiences to arrange the music  and was mainly inspired by the Films of Wes Anderson .. Dig this interview ..

Now entering its ninth year, this year's Center City Jazz Festival takes place in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 22 from 1:00 to 7:30 PM.  It returns triumphantly after a 3-year COVID hiatus and it has sold out over the past five years it was going strong .. Ernest was born and raised in Philadelphia, then moved to New York for his profession.  Growing up under often difficult circumstances, he knew the important role jazz played in shaping his own life.  Despite his success, he never forgot his roots.  Quite the contrary, he kept tabs on the music scene in his hometown.  We cover quite a bit .. She is releasing her first single as a solo artist called "Always and Forever" on April 7, 2023. It was written by her father, the KC Piano Icon Bram Wijnands, and recorded by her gang here in Brooklyn. This will be leading up to two more single releases with a full album release to come in the Summer.
