    Bonita Lee Penn is a Pittsburgh poet, editor, curator and author of the chapbook, Every Morning A Foot Is Looking For My Neck (Central Square Press, 2019.). Her work has appeared in JOINT. Literary Magazine, Hot Metal Bridge Journal, The Massachusetts Review, “The Skinny” Poetry Journal, Women Studies Quarterly, Voices from the Attic Anthology and her poem "When Lightning Rides Thunder Bareback" was the Solstice Editors' Pick for the 2018 summer issue of Solstice: A Magazine of Diverse Voices. A writing workshop facilitator and graduate Interdisciplinary Instructor (Poetic Forms). Also, a curator of various poetry events, she is a member of the Pittsburgh Black Feminist Reading Group, sub (Verses) Social Collective, United Black Book Clubs of Pittsburgh and Managing Editor of the Soul Pitt Quarterly Magazine. She also performs with the New York based band Heroes Are Gang Leaders.

    Michelle Coles is a debut novelist, experienced civil rights attorney, and mother of four. As a 9th generation Louisianan, she is highly attuned to the struggles that African Americans have faced in overcoming the legacy of slavery and the periods of government-sanctioned discrimination that followed. She is a proud alumna of Howard University School of Law and the University of Virginia. Her goal in writing is to empower young people by educating them about history and giving them the tools to shape their own destiny. She lives in Maryland with her family.

    Alan King is a Caribbean American poet, whose parents emigrated to the U.S. from Trinidad and Tobago in the early '70s. He's a father, husband, and author of three collections of poetry: Crooked Smiling Light (Plan B Press, 2021), Point Blank (Silver Birch Press, 2016) and Drift (Aquarius Press, 2012). King's poetry caught the attention of U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo who said: "Alan King is one of my favorite up-and-coming poets of his generation. His poems are not pop and flash, rather more like a slow dance with someone you're going to love forever." King is also a videographer and motion graphics artist. The video he produced for his poem, "Gluttony," was an "Official Selection" of the 2021 International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, Greece. A Cave Canem graduate fellow, King is a graduate of the Stonecoast MFA Program at the University of Southern Maine. He lives with his wife, children, and mother-in-law in Bowie, MD.

    Randall Horton is the recipient of the Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Award, the Bea Gonzalez Poetry Award, the Great Lakes College Association New Writers Award for Creative Nonfiction and a National Endowment of the Arts Fellowship in Literature. In addition, Randall has been interviewed on Fox News, NPR, CTNPR, CSPAN, the New Haven Register and countless journals, magazines and radio shows. He currently sits on the Advisory Board of Pen America’s Pen Prison Writing Program. In 2018-2019 Randall was selected as Poet-in-Residence for the Civil Rights Corps in Washington DC, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to challenging systemic injustice in the American legal system. Randall has conducted workshops, lectured and toured numerous adult and juvenile detention centers across the nation to provide encouragement and hope for those entangled within the legal system. He is very interested in eradicating the language of incarceration that tends to re-criminalized those entangled in the legal system. Dr. Randall Horton is currently the only tenured Full Professor in the United States of America at a university or college with seven felony convictions. He is a member of the experimental performance group Heroes Are Gang Leaders which recently received the 2018 American Book Award in Oral Literature and their latest musical project, The Baraka Sessions, was named best vocal jazz album by NPR in 20129.. Randall’s latest collection of poetry {#289-128} will be published by the University of Kentucky Press in Fall 2020. Dr. Horton is a Professor of English at the University of New Haven. Randall's memoir, Dead Weight: A Memoir in Essays is forthcoming in February 2022.

    Willie Perdomo is the author of Smoking Lovely: The Remix, The Crazy Bunch, The Essential Hits of Shorty Bon Bon, and Where a Nickel Costs of Dime.  Winner of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly Award for Poetry, and the PEN Open Book Award, Perdomo was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Poetry Society of America Norma Farber First Book Award.  He is co-editor of the anthology, Latínext, and his work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Poetry, Washington Post, The Best American Poetry 2019, and African Voices. He teaches at Phillips Exeter Academy and was recently appointed New York State Poet Laureate.

    Leslie C. Youngblood received an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A former assistant professor of creative writing at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, she has lectured at Mississippi State University, UNC-Greensboro, and the University of Ghana at Legon. She began her undergraduate degree at Morris Brown College and completed her bachelor's at Georgia State University. After graduation, she served as a columnist and assistant editor for Atlanta Tribune: The Magazine.
    She’s been awarded a host of writing honors including a 2014 Yaddo's Elizabeth Ames Residency, the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Prize, a Hurston Wright Fellowship, and the Room of Her Own Foundation’s 2009 Orlando Short Story Prize. She received funding to attend the Norman Mailer Writers’ Colony in 2011. Her short story, “Poor Girls’ Palace,” was published in the winter 2009 edition of the Indiana Review, as well as Kwelijournal, 2014.
    In 2010 she won the Go On Girl! Book Club Aspiring Writer Award. In 2016 she landed a two-book publishing deal with Disney-Hyperion for her Middle-Grade novel, Love Like Sky. She works as a writing consultant for various businesses seeking assistance and Individuals looking to hone their skills. In 2019, Little, Brown for Young Readers acquired Love Like Sky and her forthcoming title, Forever This Summer, from Disney Books. Forever This Summer Publishes July 6, 2021.
    When she's not reading or working on her next novel, she enjoys watching Shark Tank, Chopped, and other shows where people are giving their all.
    Born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and raised in Rochester, New York, she’s fortunate to have a family of natural storytellers and a circle of supportive family and friends.

A 37+ year career in music as a composer, pianist, singer, and producer of jazz, soul, and house music; Mwalim Started with the viola at age ten, he played at Carnegie before age 14 and went on to attend Music & Art HS. At 26 he was one of the youngest session players in EMI Records history. As a senior in college, Mwalim started Midnight Groove Recordings in 1989 to release and promote his music, scoring numerous achievements including awards, chart positions, and international hit club recordings. Presently, he is the owner and head of production for Polyphonic Studios in Bourne, MA and a tenured Associate Professor of English, Communications and Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth.
