How fondly do you remember Ghostbusters II? Chris, Tina, and Eric didn't hate it. The question is, does it stand up to Dan-alysis? Dan jokes that he hates everything (he actually might not be joking), so what chance does Vigo and his emotionally charged slime have? We then, for some reason, talked about the history of the national anthem, and Nickelodeon slime. Oh, and eat your vegetables, kids. There are starving children out there...and you wouldn't want them getting your vegetables.
Here is part one of our recording at The Moser Halloween Party 2018. We had a great time and talked with some very interesting people. If you find this episode entertaining (or not), let us know in the comments, or call us at (864) 715-9446 and leave a message. We want to know if this is something you like or would prefer to skip. The feedback you give us will determine if and when we release part two.
Tina broke her elbow just to get this guest for the podcast. J.T. is Tina's physical therapist and he helped her make a tremendous recovery. We talk about his passion for physical therapy, CrossFit, and fitness in general. We had a great informative conversation.
Geoffrey the Giraffe fights for life! We talk about the rebirth and re-branding of Toys R Us into Geoffrey's Toy Box. Will it fail? Will it succeed? What do we want to see from it? What should Geoffrey have learned from the fall of Toys R Us? We also got a good first look at the Season 1 trailer for She-Ra and The Princesses of Power. We're probably more stoked for this than we let on, and we let on quite a bit.
Fathom Events brought The Transformers: The Movie back to theaters on September 27th, 2018. For some of us, it was the first viewing of the movie since it came out in the eighties. It was a cheesy kids movie, with very dark moments and a lot of violence thrown in for good measure. We had SO much to say about this movie, and you get to hear it all. Also, we welcome Johnathan Wheatley back to join us in the discussion and to tell us about his podcast The History of Comic Books. ERRATA: Chris mispronounces the name of actor Lionel Stander.

We might play or read your message on the show!Conservative pundits Bill Whittle, Steve Green, and Scott Ott have weighed in social justice in modern movies and television. (See their video in our show notes at nerdblisspodcast.com and on our Facebook page.) They seem willing, although reluctantly, to meet the millennial culture where it is in order to cash in on disaffected fans of classic sci-fi and adventure franchises. They think they can make Conservatism appeal to those angry fans. We respond to that video and discuss the notion of social justice in modern entertainment.
Hurricane Florence has come and gone, and while there were some people who were seriously impacted by the effects of the storm, the media coverage of Florence was riddled with sensationalism and outright theater. Many on the internet poked fun at this storm and its associated news coverage, and we're no different. That said, we're not heartless. See the link in the notes for ways that you can assist those impacted by Hurricane Florence. Do you know who *IS* heartless though? People who love Christmas, that's who. Why is it okay to celebrate Halloween as early in the year as possible but people who love Christmas are evil for wanting to do the same thing?

In this episode, Luna Shovegood rejoins our merry band and updates on the roller derby world. We continue to talk about the great time we had at DragonCon 2018. We then go on to discuss the announcement that toy giant Mattel has started a film division. This gives us the possibility of movies based on Masters of the Universe, She-Ra, Barbie, and even Hot Wheels. What do we think? What do you think? Will Lookee be hiding in the She-Ra movie?

DragonCon is finally here. We recorded two segments, one early in the con and one later in the con and talked about what we did to prepare and what we did at this year's convention. Dan talks about his first DragonCon experience, and we talk about our awesome experience at the Star Trek: Discovery cast panel.
We're headed for DragonCon! We talk a bit about the con and what our experiences with it have been like, and where we'll be at the con this year. We then talk about the first look at Star Wars: Resistance. We give our first impressions and take yet another opportunity to give grief to the Star Wars fandom. We finish with a discussion of Disney's double-down on the firing of James Gunn.
