Maybe… but Liz and Heather went down memory lanes with some of their favorites from the era. Does anyone remember Units? (Hint: think modular clothing)

In episode 125, we wrap up Batmonth – we end it on top with Batman done right! Christopher Nolan makes an as-close-to-perfect Batman series as we can ever hope to get (ok ok Heather is obviously the one writing this post – it doesn’t make it less true).

There are some spoilers in this episode, but hey… we all know the origin story of Batman (and most of the villains) by now right?

We talk about the actors playing the key roles, and how well (or not) they played each character.

It was evident that this series was a complete turnaround from the previous Tim Burton/ Joel Schumacher series (although we did miss the gratuitous butt/crotch shots when suiting up). Listen in as we talk (well Heather gushes, and Liz talks) about Nolan’s vision and the DC legacy.

Batman – Hush

In Episode 124, Heather and Liz take on one of the most popular runs of Batman, Batman Hush by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. This was quite the undertaking with 12 individual comics and about 1300 villians all playing a part in the Hush mystery.

We talk about the impossibilities of showing boobs, butt, and face all pointing forward at the same time, and learn that Superman is not invulnerable to Poison Ivy’s lure. While things are getting saucy, Catwoman gets under-the-cowl (ooh lala) in this rendition and we learn that Batman is not a great boyfriend.

Join us as we dive into the mystery of Hush… who is he/she?…will the World’s Greatest Detective figure it out in time? Spoiler…he does not.

Welcome to Week 2 of Batmonth! In Episode 123, we look into the movie series that sucked us in! Warner Bros. rebooted the Batman franchise with Tim Burton directing the first live action Batman in over 20 years. Batman (1989) gave us Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. The sequel, Batman Returns, shows us the not-so-catburgler-like Michelle Pfeiffer kicking some Bat Ass and taking Names. We also learn that Liz has some difficulty relating to the character of Penguin…hmm, curious as to why that is?

We don’t stop there. We include for your listening pleasure the unparalleled Joel Schumacher films in the series as we discuss crotch-shots, man-nipples and… oh yeah… there is some Batman talk in there too.

Liz and Heather get a little silly reminiscing about the campy themes, leotards, and outfit-coordinated henchmen. I mean, how does one recruit an entire hench-mob team of hockey players to do ones bidding?
