Compatibility, Chemistry & What Love Actually Looks Like
What if the relationship that feels less exciting at first is actually the healthier one?
For years, many of us have been taught to look for the spark.
Butterflies. Intensity. Instant chemistry. That intoxicating feeling where you can't stop thinking about someone.
But what if some of the sensations we've learned to associate with attraction aren't always signs of compatibility?
In this episode, we're exploring how our understanding of love changes as we change — and why a healthy relationship can feel very different from the relationships we may have chased when we were younger.
I'll share my own experiences after spending more than 20 years of my life in serious relationships, including two marriages, as well as years navigating the dating world. At 44, I've learned a lot about what I once thought love was... and what I believe healthy love actually requires.
My first marriage taught me how easily you can lose yourself inside a relationship — your friendships, hobbies and even parts of your identity.
My second taught me something completely different: two good people aren't necessarily the right people for each other, and love alone doesn't compensate for an inability to communicate.
And dating taught me perhaps the biggest lesson of all:
Intensity isn't intimacy. Chemistry isn't compatibility. And calm isn't boring.
In this episode, we'll explore:
✨ The psychology behind attraction and chemistry
✨ The major attachment styles and how they affect relationships
✨ Why even securely attached people can feel anxious with an inconsistent or avoidant partner
✨ Chemistry versus genuine compatibility
✨ Why "butterflies" aren't necessarily the relationship goal we've been taught they are
✨ Why consistency can initially feel less exciting than unpredictability
✨ Communication, conflict and emotional safety
✨ Why maintaining your own identity matters in long-term relationships
✨ Independence versus emotional distance
✨ The lessons I've taken from two very different marriages
✨ How our relationship needs can change as we mature
✨ Why being alone can be healthier than choosing a relationship simply because it's available
Today, I'm no longer looking for intensity or someone to complete me.
I've built a life I love. I know who I am, what I need, what I can offer another person, and I'm comfortable waiting for a relationship that complements my life rather than consumes it.
Because perhaps healthy love isn't supposed to leave you constantly wondering where you stand.
Maybe it isn't supposed to feel like an emotional rollercoaster.
Maybe the person who's right for you doesn't create chaos in your nervous system.
Maybe they create somewhere it can finally exhale.
Healthy love doesn't need to keep you guessing to keep you interested. Sometimes the greatest chemistry of all is simply feeling safe enough to be completely yourself.
Have you ever wondered why change feels so hard?
Why we stay in jobs we've outgrown, relationships that no longer fulfil us, or habits we know aren't serving us—even when we desperately want something different?
The truth is, lasting change isn't about having more willpower or waiting for motivation to magically appear. It's about understanding how your brain works.
In this episode, we're diving into the psychology and neuroscience of behaviour change. We'll explore why our brains are wired to seek certainty, how dopamine influences our habits, why comfort zones can quietly keep us stuck, and why small, consistent actions are far more powerful than dramatic life overhauls.
We'll also unpack identity-based habits, habit stacking, and the science behind why the people who create lasting change don't rely on motivation—they build systems that work even when motivation disappears.
Because perhaps you're not stuck because you're lazy...
Perhaps you're simply running patterns your brain has repeated for years.
✨ Why motivation isn't enough to create lasting change
✨ The neuroscience of habits and habit loops
✨ Dopamine, rewards and why some behaviours become addictive
✨ Why your brain prefers certainty over change
✨ The psychology behind fear and stepping outside your comfort zone
✨ Identity-based habits and becoming the person you want to be
✨ Tiny Habits and Habit Stacking backed by behavioural science
✨ Why lasting transformation happens one small decision at a time
If you've ever felt frustrated that you keep falling back into old patterns, this episode will help you understand why—and, more importantly, how real, lasting change actually happens.
Because you don't need to change your entire life today.
You just need to take the next step.
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself...
How much of what you believe did you actually choose?
From the moment we're born, we begin absorbing beliefs about ourselves, other people and the world around us. We inherit ideas about success, money, relationships, confidence, religion, body image, work and self-worth—often without ever questioning where they came from.
In this episode, we're exploring the hidden beliefs that quietly shape our decisions, influence our relationships, guide our habits and ultimately determine the lives we create.
We'll dive into the psychology of core beliefs, how childhood conditioning influences adulthood, why our brains seek certainty over truth, and how the people we surround ourselves with—including the content we consume every day—can reinforce the stories we tell ourselves.
Most importantly, we'll explore the incredible science of neuroplasticity and why it's never too late to challenge old beliefs and consciously choose new ones.
Because your past may explain who you are...
But it doesn't have to define who you become.
✨ How childhood shapes your core beliefs
✨ Why we inherit beliefs about money, success, relationships and self-worth
✨ The psychology of confirmation bias and why we see what we expect to see
✨ How your environment and social media quietly influence your thinking
✨ The science of neuroplasticity and changing lifelong beliefs
✨ Why questioning your beliefs is one of the greatest gifts of adulthood
✨ How to consciously choose beliefs that support the life you want to build
If you've ever wondered why certain patterns keep showing up in your life—or why changing can feel so difficult—this episode will help you understand yourself with more compassion and curiosity.
Because the beliefs that shape your life don't have to remain the beliefs that define your future.
Have you ever convinced yourself that someone was upset with you… only to discover they were just busy?
Or believed you weren't good enough, attractive enough, successful enough, smart enough, or worthy enough?
What if the problem isn't reality?
What if it's the story you've attached to reality?
In this episode, we're diving deep into the fascinating psychology and neuroscience behind the stories we tell ourselves. The stories that shape our confidence, relationships, decisions, fears, self-worth, and ultimately, our lives.
You'll discover why your brain isn't a camera, why it hates uncertainty, why it focuses on the negative, and how confirmation bias quietly reinforces the beliefs you already hold.
We'll explore ten powerful "Holy Shit Moments" that will challenge the way you think about your thoughts, your memories, your emotions, and yourself.
Because the truth is, many of us aren't suffering from what happened.
We're suffering from the meaning we've attached to what happened.
✨ Why your brain is a storyteller, not a truth-teller
✨ The surprising reason your memories aren't as accurate as you think
✨ Why your mind would rather have a wrong answer than no answer
✨ Understanding negativity bias and how it affects your life
✨ Why your thoughts are not facts
✨ The psychology of confirmation bias
✨ How social media fuels comparison and self-doubt
✨ The danger of self-fulfilling prophecies
✨ Why "I'm just this way" may be the most limiting story of all
✨ The life-changing realisation that you are not the voice in your head
If you've ever overthought a text message, doubted yourself, compared yourself to others, or found yourself stuck in the same patterns, this episode is going to hit home.
And somewhere throughout these ten Holy Shit Moments, you may just discover a story you've been carrying that no longer serves you.
Because awareness doesn't change your past.
But it can absolutely change your future.
In This Episode:
Have you ever had a feeling about someone, a situation, or a decision that you couldn't quite explain?
A tightness in your chest.
A knot in your stomach.
A sense of calm.
A feeling that something just wasn't right.
What if those sensations weren't random?
What if your body was trying to tell you something?
In this episode, we're exploring the fascinating connection between the mind, body and nervous system, and why your body often knows before your conscious mind does.
We'll discuss the science of interoception, how chronic stress can quietly show up through physical symptoms, why so many of us become disconnected from our internal signals, and how learning to listen to your body can help you make clearer, more aligned decisions.
I'll also share personal experiences about intuition, reading energy, recognising stress through physical symptoms, and how becoming more aware of my body's signals has helped me build greater self-trust and make better decisions throughout my life.
Because healing doesn't always begin with fixing.
Sometimes it begins with listening.
✨ Why your body often knows before your mind does
✨ The science behind intuition and unconscious processing
✨ What The Body Keeps the Score teaches us about stress
✨ How chronic stress can show up physically
✨ The hidden difference between functioning and thriving
✨ Why modern life disconnects us from ourselves
✨ Understanding interoception and body awareness
✨ How to recognise your body's signals and messages
✨ A simple practice to reconnect with yourself
If you've ever ignored your gut feeling, pushed through exhaustion, or wondered whether your body was trying to tell you something, this episode is for you.
You will spend more time with yourself than anyone else on this planet.
Yet for many of us, the relationship we have with ourselves is the one we neglect the most.
In this episode, we're exploring self-love, self-trust, self-compassion and forgiveness through a different lens. Not the social media version of self-love. Not bubble baths and affirmations. But the everyday choices that shape how we feel about ourselves and our lives.
We'll talk about the voice in your head, the hidden cost of self-criticism, why self-compassion is backed by science, how to build trust in yourself, and why forgiveness may be one of the most powerful gifts you can give yourself.
I'll also share some personal reflections about creating a life that feels like home, learning to trust my intuition, and the lessons I've learned from mistakes, relationships, travel, growth and self-discovery.
Because the relationship you have with yourself influences every other relationship in your life.
And perhaps the goal isn't becoming someone new.
Perhaps the goal is finally coming home to yourself.
✨ The voice in your head and how it shapes your life
✨ Why self-criticism doesn't create confidence
✨ The science of self-compassion and resilience
✨ What self-love really looks like in everyday life
✨ Learning to trust your intuition and inner wisdom
✨ Why forgiveness is essential for healing
✨ How your relationship with yourself affects every other relationship
✨ Creating a life that feels aligned, authentic and meaningful

In this episode, we're exploring why so many of us spend our lives chasing the next achievement, the next milestone, and the next version of ourselves, only to discover that fulfilment remains just out of reach.

This is a powerful conversation about ambition, identity, self-worth, and the danger of postponing happiness until some future destination.

What if people pleasing isn't kindness?
What if it's fear?
In this episode, we're diving into one of the most common yet overlooked patterns affecting relationships, self-worth, confidence and emotional wellbeing: the need for approval.
Many of us have spent years being the reliable one, the helper, the peacekeeper, the person who says yes, avoids conflict and puts everyone else's needs before our own. From the outside it can look generous and selfless. But beneath the surface, people pleasing often comes at a significant personal cost.
We'll explore why human beings are wired for belonging, how approval impacts the brain and nervous system, why rejection feels so painful, and how the pursuit of external validation can quietly shape our decisions, relationships and identity.
You'll learn how to recognise the signs of approval addiction, why resentment is often a signal of self-abandonment, and how to begin building self-trust without losing your kindness or compassion.
If you've ever found yourself:
• Struggling to say no
• Feeling guilty for setting boundaries
• Worrying about what people think
• Constantly over-explaining yourself
• Taking responsibility for everyone else's feelings
• Feeling resentful despite doing everything for everyone
This episode is for you.

• The psychology of people pleasing
• Why approval feels so rewarding
• The neuroscience of rejection and belonging
• Approval addiction in the modern world
• The hidden cost of being "the reliable one"
• Resentment, boundaries and self-abandonment
• Why authenticity feels uncomfortable at first
• Building self-trust and emotional freedom
