What's poppin' New Agers! This week we have a special guest, Nurse Kimber, who shares the details of the day in a life of a black labor and delivery nurse! She discusses her personal values of treating moms, what to expect when you do a hospital birth, how to advocate for yourself as a patient and so much more! 

Kimberly Delva became a BSN two years ago and has had her high and lows in the medical field while transitioning between hospitals and nursing assignments. Kimberly is now a Labor and Delivery nurse and a huge advocate for the health of women of color. We will be discussing how women can advocate for themselves in hospitals, preparing for birth at the hospital, her experience with being a bedside nurse and options women did not know they had.

We sit down with Nashone Davidson and discuss the dynamics of her lifestyle with multiple hats but still making herself a priority. Nashone teaches us that time blocking works for her in order to fill her cup and her friends and family.

Nashone is a Chicago native who splits her time between being CEO and founder of Allean’s (Al-lean) Heir, a thriving business that allows her to grow in her passion as a seamstress and fashion designer, making clothes for women to help them feel beautiful and empowered. As an advocate for women in not just her business, but as Associate Director of Case Management at the YWCA Chicago. In this role Nashone oversees specialized services to survivors of sexual assault and other violent crimes. Nashone is also mother of 3 children and has been married for 14 years.

Masani joins us to community activism and how it relates to raising your children! Masani discusses the imperative needs to uplift and educate our children regarding being an activist while balancing parenting and other roles!

Masani Matthews-Bediako was the 9th of 10 children, born and raised in Joliet. Growing up during the 60s, her experience with Integration sparked her revolutionary involvement in Civil Rights issues. She was married shortly after high school and moved to Chicago. After losing her mother young and feeling like she lost her sense of direction in life, the All-African People's Revolutionary Party helped her find purpose and led to her continuing her education with a science degree all while juggling single motherhood. She has spent decades in the community organizing and protesting for the rights of Black people, raised her children and grandchildren and recently retired after 35 years of working for NorthShore University Healthcare.
