Jesus fulfills the OT threefold office of prophet, priest, and king. He then empowers his followers to fulfill the same roles as his ambassadors in the world.
Jesus' resurrection gives us unshakable joy, a mission far greater than ourselves, a community of belonging, and the victory over our great enemy, death. Is He sufficient for you, or are you pursuing sufficiency in something else?
Jesus endures unimaginable suffering to do the job - the job of offering up his body as a bloody sacrifice for our sins, that we would be forgiven and freed from sin.
Jesus is a different kind of king - he fulfills prophesies of old about the coming Savior, yet he rides humbly on a donkey. This is symbolic of the very task he came to accomplish - to rescue his subjects from sin by laying down his life for them.
