God has a big story. We call it “His story or History.” But did you know that we can be part of that big story. We can actually make contributions to the ongoing story of the Kingdom of God on earth. You see, you and I may think that because we are not famous or don’t have one million followers on social media that we are insignificant. But that isn’t true. If we use our gifts, talents and abilities for God’s will on earth we have now become part of the biggest story ever. We are part of a big story.

We’ve maybe all seen a movie where someone is walking and they step into quicksand and now their life and future is in peril. We are beginning a series entitled “Cultural Quicksand” where we will look at various aspects of our current culture, compare it with scripture to see if we are walking in quicksand or solid ground. Jesus instructed us to build our lives upon the only solid rock: “Him and His words.” But in that same passage He warned against building our lives upon sand and there are always plenty winds of sandy thinking. Our goal is to give Biblical thinking in order to form solid foundations because, “Foundations Form Futures.”

The New Testament writer Paul writes in Romans 10:14 “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” Paul is talking about basic Christianity: Share the gospel whenever the opportunity arises. In our Go 2020 series we will follow an ordinary man named Jonah called by God to share God’s message to the people of Nineveh. Of course most of us know Jonah will run from the call and have to be severely persuaded to go. In this series we will see many parallels between Jonah and ourselves when it comes to sharing the Gospel. In the end our hope is we will have a renewed love and desire to see non-followers of Christ come to Jesus as Lord and Savior.
