Does YouTube really have all the answers?

YouTube seems to have all the answers for life these days. If you want to know how to build something, fix something, learn something, or even build your own brand, YouTube seems to be the place to go. We live in a time that prizes the ability to “Do It Yourself” (DIY) and promoting yourself for the digital world to see. This Sunday, as we study Genesis 11, we’ll see that these pursuits of the human heart didn’t originate with YouTube, they’ve been there from the beginning. How can we better understand where these pursuits come from within our hearts and how they lead us away from God’s original design for our human flourishing?

What of the more pervasive and tempting ideas is that we should be left to live however we want. Our decisions are about us, right? Sin is a personal thing, and if someone else doesn’t like it, it’s their issue, right? But what if a whole society lived that way? As we look at the narrative flow from Cain and Abel through the flood (Genesis 4-9), we see sin spreading from within a person’s heart to impacting relationships and shaping society. Sometimes the issues we see “out there” are reflective of the stuff going on inside of us. Join us this Sunday as we seek to better understand these dynamics and how we might live more fully into God’s design for human flourishing.

Do you remember those moments when you ask yourself, “How did I end up in this mess?” Sometimes, it is a direct result of decisions we’ve made; other times, it is the result of hurtful things others have done to us.
