In Christ, we are all part of a new humanity - a humanity that encompasses people of every race, ethnicity, colour, language and background. And as such, embracing diversity is an essential part of us truly being the people of God.

In this talk, James addresses the topic of diversity. He challenges us on our cultural assumptions, and how we can all too easily fall into assumptions and even superiorities. Instead, he looks at what Jesus says of His Church and how we can continue to strive after being this new, diverse, humanity.

It talks of being ‘Chosen’ by God before the foundations of the world. But what are we chosen for? What are we chosen into?

As westerners, we are both fabulously wealthy, and desperately poor at the same time. Wealthy because we are richer, more intelligent, more insightful, more technically advanced, more healthy than ever before. But we’re still not happy. We’re still not content. Even with everything creation can offer, it’s not enough - we were made for more than this.

The blessings in Christ are the foundation for every believer. You can be blessed in this world and still not be content, because we were intended to live for more than this, are desires will only be satisfied by the blessings of God in Christ. That’s the revolutionary, counter-cultural news that the Bible proclaims.
