In this sermon, we continue our journey through the book of Romans, diving into Romans 1:16–2:16. Paul reminds us that the gospel is the power of God for salvation, and that the greatest threat to the church is not persecution, but assimilation into the surrounding culture.

Through the lens of Roman culture, we see how easily people exchange the truth of God for lies, worship creation instead of the Creator, and redefine right and wrong based on personal desire rather than God’s Word. Paul speaks honestly about sin, God’s righteous judgment, and humanity’s universal need for repentance, while also warning believers against pride, hypocrisy, and self-righteousness.

This passage confronts us with a sobering truth: God hates sin because it separates us from Him, yet He loves sinners so deeply that He sent His Son to the cross to make a way back. The kindness, patience, and mercy of God are not meant to excuse sin, but to lead us to repentance and new life in Christ.

This message calls the church to remain rooted in Christ and Scripture, to resist cultural compromise, and to reflect God’s grace and truth with humility, compassion, and love remembering that the gospel is not just about what God saves us from, but who He saves us for.
