In the first chapter of Jonah, we see that God desires and commands Jonah to go to Nineveh - the wicked enemies of Israel - and preach repentance. However, the remainder of the chapter consists of Jonah trying to disrupt the will of God, only to learn time after time that God is sovereign over all things and His hand cannot be stayed. However, given how Jesus seems to view the person and story of the prophet Jonah in the New Testament, this chapter must be read in light of the gospel.

In order to help the congregation prepare to partake in the Lord's Supper, Pastor Andy reads an excerpt of F. W. Krumacher's reflections on the victory cry of Jesus on the cross- -it is finished-.

After examining the definition of the Trinity in part 1 of our series, we move on to explore the implications that the Triunity of God has on the Christian life. In particular, we look at how understanding the Trinity changes the way we think about creation, salvation, and sanctification. Creation is an overflow of God's love for the Son. The aim of salvation is for the Father to share with His elect His love for His Son. Sanctification is the Christian, by the power of the Spirit, growing to love the Son and Father more. We are folded into the mutual, all-satisfying love within the Trinity.

Pastor Andy delivered a theologically robust formal discourse on the Calvinistic doctrine of irresistible grace. He gave a thorough explanation of its common misconceptions and provided many scriptural proof-texts to ungird-cement its obvious validity in Holy Writ. Lastly, he ended with warm yet forceful applications of the doctrine with regards to the biblical impetus to evangelize - the unwavering confidence one should have -in the doctrine- while fulfilling the great commission.

The fourth miracle recorded in John happened in the midst of rising hostility from the Jewish leaders and right after the death of John the Baptist. Jesus fed five thousand men, not including women and children, demonstrating that He is sufficient, that He provides, and that He is King.

The close of Acts occurred between AD 60-62. Two incidents are recorded during Paul's time of being under house arrest. First, Paul defended himself before the Jews living in Rome. Second, Paul charged the Jews for their unbelief. The book ends abruptly, signaling that Jesus' work of building the Church is incomplete. We see applications for the unbelieving Jews, the unbelieving Gentiles, and the Christians.

After spending three months on Malta, Paul and the crew set sail in a ship that had wintered on the Island. They passed through Syracuse, Rhegium, Puteoli, and finally arrived at Rome, fulfilling what God had promised. Upon hearing Paul's arrival, brothers from Appius and Three Taverns traveled over forty miles to greet Paul. We see the implications for Christian fellowship, hospitality, and church membership. Our physical presence in the lives of one another has a tangible effect on our spiritual health of each other.

In conclusion to the 'How to Defend the Gospel' part of the Evangelism 101 series, we look at the general question of how someone's worldview changes. First, we examine the role that presuppositional - evidential apologetics play in changing someone else's worldview, and how to use each one. Next, we examine the role that the Christian's - evangelist's character plays in changing someone else's worldview -in addition to apologetics-. Lastly, we look at the Holy Spirit's role in ultimately changing someone else's worldview, with practical applications.

We examine the intent of Christ's death through multiple scriptural passages and see that to believe in limited atonement is actually to believe in more than unlimited atonement. Christ died for the elect only, and not everyone who has ever lived. This truth is seen in Christ's propitiation, His High Priestly role, His love for the church as His bride, the Unity of the Trinity, the believer's participation in the death and resurrection of Christ, and the effectiveness of His death to save.

As Jesus continues his discourse after healing the man on the Sabbath at the pool of Bethesda, he focuses on his nature as judge and God. Keeping with the judicial tone, Jesus brings five witnesses to the stand that testify to his divinity- John the Baptist, Jesus' miraculous works, God the Father, Scripture, and Moses. However, even after showing the witnesses to the Godhood of himself, Jesus concludes with the indictment that the Jews will not believe his words.
