This message looks at the first two "Servant Songs" in Isaiah chapters 41 and 42, in which first Israel as a nation, then Israel's Messiah are each presented as the "Servant of the Lord". They are quite different to each other, but both passages show the mercy and love of God, the one Redeemer, who is determined to show mercy, to bring justice, restoring lives and bringing newness and hope.

God intends everything you do to have meaning, to have longevity, to count for something, rather than being "in vain" - empty, meaningless. As a child of God, what you do in and from faith is not in vain, but has eternal worth - provided it is done according to God's will, his ways and his Word.

Chapter 40 of the book of Isaiah brings a new note - one of comfort and encouragement. God's people are to be strengthened by God as they hope in him. Be encouraged to trust and not worry, as Ian steps through this uplifting chapter, as we continue our journey through this amazing prophetic book.

The tender and merciful heart of God is revealed right from the start of the amazing poem comprising Isaiah chapters 40-55. Here, Paul introduces this great sweeping section of Isaiah, that represents a poetic "Bible in miniature", describing human rebellion and the loving heart-response of God via his mysterious "Suffering Servant", culminating in a "new creation" in which God will dwell forever with redeemed humanity.

Drawing from Isaiah 35 verse10 and Psalm 126, Samantha explains how God has brought us back from "exile" into the freedom of being able to have "fellowship with the Holy Spirit". This is something to celebrate and make the most of, but also challenges us to live in the fullness of what God intends for us.

If you have truly given your life to Jesus, you have the life of God flowing in you that can transform your experience and that of others, like water flowing in a desert, causing it to blossom! The outpoured Holy Spirit, is active in and through you, to make the desert places of life bloom, and to make the places of weeping into places of joy.
